11/1/14 Ford was the top velocity guy on the day, running his fastball to the plate at 85-88. There should be more in the tank with him, as his front side collapses, causing him to body the ball to the plate with some effort. If he learns to maintain his posture, he could see addition velocity gains, as well as be more consistent with his 70-71 curveball that flashed tight spin on occasion. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder also showed a firm change-up with slight tail at 78-80.
9/7/14 Ford displayed the best fastball of the day sitting 83-84 while touching 85 mph on several occasions. The uncommitted senior worked quickly and effectively during his three innings of work utilizing a 67 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation as his secondary pitch of choice. At 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Ford has a frame that projects to continue to develop. He has some hitches in his high 3/4 delivery that make him deceiving and his fastball showed late life especially up in the zone. Ford's performance is likely to draw some interest from schools still in search of quality arms in the 2015 class.
