6/14/16 - 60 Time: did not run, Position Velocity:  IF-84, Exit Velocity: 84
6'0, 172-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and even stance and uses a rhythmic leg kick and barrel tilt to really get himself going.  Lower half is engaged by his leg kick and fires through the zone at just the right time, back side does a great job of getting the barrel on plane and through the pitch as Poynter’s swing ends with some lift that really helps him drive the ball from gap-to-gap, stays balanced and uses entire body throughout his swing, produced 2 hits and a hard line-out to the 3B in game play.  Defensively, showed good footwork and soft hands as he played through the ball very well, is a glove flipper, used a clean transfer and a short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to produce accurate throws with carry from the shortstop position.  Poynter showed very well and will be one unsigned senior to watch this fall.

1/31/16 - Home-1st: 4.79, Position Velocity:  IF-81, Exit Velocity: 83
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, a leg kick trigger and mid-length stride initiate the swing, has developed into an aggressive hitter who looks to attack the baseball, showed good pull-side power while also showing the ability to use all fields, consistently squared the baseball in his round of BP. Shows soft hands and works through the ball well with good athleticism, showed his best arm strength to date from a high-3/4 release that produced accurate throws, good body control with ability to throw on the move. Poynter shows a good combination of offensive and defensive ability.
6/10/15 - The 6 foot, 165-pound prospect posted a 7.14 60 time.  Defensively Poynter had a position velocity of 79 mph across the infield. Poynter has soft hands and fluid footwork with natural instincts. Showed accuracy on his throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Offensively from the right side, Poynter has some bat speed and had a 82 mph exit velocity off the tee. Hits from an open setup with good balance and hits the ball to all sides of the field. Is a line drive type hitter that has a good baseball build and shows some projectability. Poynter went 2-for-5 in game play with a single and a double, impressing at the plate in game action.  On the mound, 6-foot, 165-pound prospect with athletic frame, uses long arm action through a ¾ to high-3/4 slot, has some head snap in delivery, fastball showed some arm-side run and occasional sink and sat 79-81 mph, showed a sharp-breaking 72 mph curveball with 11/5 action, good feel for the curveball, walked first batter he faces then settled in to throw strikes, projectable frame with potential to add additional velocity.
