7/10/19: Murrell joined Rockford late due to Texas Tech’s Omaha run, but has made an instant impact on the Rivets, slashing .393/.575/.393 through his first nine games and 38 plate appearances. Most impressive, the Red Raider infielder has already racked-up 10 walks to just six strikeouts while showing an impressive ability to work the count and find pitches he can barrel. He has a balanced swing with a relatively quiet head and good feel for contact, though the power and run tools do not project as impact. His bat-to-ball skills and on-base ability should earn him opportunities on the Red Raiders next spring and he currently projects as a potential Day 3 talent due to the one-dimensional offensive potential and age (he’ll turn 22 before next June’s draft).
