Bernal is still not done filling out his 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame and started the day with a 7.02 60-yard dash. The left-handed hitter took a quality round of BP, lacing balls through from the middle to pull side of the field, and launched a home run. He has quick-strong hands with good lag in the zone that creates easy whip and a loose finish and posted a top exit velocity of 87. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with natural rhythm and athleticism, with his exchange and crow hop synced up, allowing his long arm swing to work well from a high-¾ slot with a top velocity of 84 mph. On the infield, Bernal plays low with quick footwork and threw with a top velocity of 75 mph. On numerous occasions, we have seen him be on time and on the barrel. Moving forward, Bernal’s athleticism left-handed bat should make him a highly sought after recruit with upside.

Bernal has a lean, athletic, projectable frame at 5-foot-9, 155-pounds. Coming off having the flu a week earlier, the left-handed hitter was on the barrel during batting practice with a line drive approach, loose-quick hands and a simple, repeatable swing with leverage and an exit velocity of 80 mph. Although not done maturing physically, Bernal makes hard contact and has a feel for hitting spin. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with quick feet and a clean exchange. Loose, quick arm swing works well from back to front with a max velocity of 77 mph. On the infield, Bernal has quick footwork that should serve him well as he continues to develop physically. Soft hands play well out front. Funnels the ball back to his midline before making accurate throws from a loose arm swing that works well from back to front with a max velocity of 71 mph.

10.28.17 Bernal is left-handed hitter that college coaches are going to want to follow closely this year. Although not done developing physically, he stands 5-foot-9, 135-pounds, with a lean, athletic frame and twitchy tools. He started the day by posting a 6.95 60-yard dash. Offensively, Bernal’s swing just works, he has a great feel for the barrel and makes hard contact. Starting from a slightly open stance, he pushes back to load with a smooth leg kick as he picks his hands up. Strides forward, lands balanced, easy weight transfer, short path into the zone, good extension through contact with a loose, high finish as he sits down into his legs. Although his exit velocity is only 82 mph, he has quick hands and shows good power to the pull side gap during batting practice. Took good swings during game, including a loose hack on a deep fly ball to centerfield. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with quick feet and a clean exchange. Loose, quick arm swing works well from back to front with a max velocity of 80 mph. On the infield, Bernal has quick footwork that should serve him well as he is not developing physically. 07.25.17 - 5-foot-9, 125-pound, still developing frame. Bernal started the day by running a 7.0-second 60-yard dash. The left-handed hitter has a relaxed setup and a simple, efficient swing. Starts with an easy leg kick, lands balanced with a relaxed stride. Efficient-quick hips into his lower half transfer. Loose, quick hands with barrel awareness, finishes the barrel with easy effort. Mostly line drives during batting practice, strong top hand at contact. During the game, Bernal collected two quality at-bats during the game, laced a single to left field and then flew out sharply on the barrel to left field. In the outfield, Bernal has a quick exchange with athletic footwork after the catch as he gathers with a crow hop to throw from a high-¾ slot with a quickish arm stroke at 80 mph. On the infield, Bernal has active, quick feet with a good first step when he moves laterally. More choppy footwork on routine balls, midline exchange allow his arm to work efficiently with accuracy at 73 mph across the infield. Although Bernal still needs to add strength as he continues to develop, he is a quick-twitch left-handed hitter that can play multiple positions.

1/14/17 A 5-foot-6, 115-pound outfielder and infielder with a small, athletic frame. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg lift, solid lower half, and quality balance. Line-drive type hitter, fluid rhythm, level path with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 77 mph. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges.  Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 75 mph from the outfield and 72 mph from the infield. Also posted a 7.34 60-yard dash.
