08.09.17 - Area Code Games - LHP Jonathan Childress (Magnolia HS, TX) came in for his second appearance and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out four in two innings. His fastball was in the high 80s and he was spinning his breaking ball well. It was a swing-and-miss pitch, sitting 77-78 with tight spin and 1/7 shape.

08.06.17 - Area Code Games - + LHP Jonathan Childress (Forney HS, TX) pitched two innings and struck out one. His breaking bal ball had sharp break and angle at 77-79 while his fastball was 87-89. He pitches out of a high 3/4 slot with a slightly closed delivery that makes it hard for hitters to pick up the ball. The delivery is also easy and loose.

7/10/17 - Named to Team USA 18U trials roster.
6/29/17 - Carved with his advanced three-pitch mix, headlined by a big curveball that ranged between 77-81 mph. He consistently threw his breaking ball for strikes and froze hitters en route to racking up a game-high six strikeouts. Childress also beat hitters with his 87-89 mph fastball that topped out at 91. The fastball appeared to sneak up on hitters who have been barreling up big velocity the last few days, as he got a lot of swing and misses on it. For good measure, he showed feel for his 80-83 mph changeup that flashed some cut and sink. All three pitches come out of the same window, and everything out of the hand looks easy. Childress didn’t issue a walk while giving up two hits in his four innings, which only required 44 pitches (66 percent strikes).

06.20.17 - Texas A&M recruit. 6-foot-5, 215-pound, projectable, long-limbed frame. The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot as his fastball jumps on top of hitters with arm side life at 88-90 mph. He is able to work both sides of the plate, making it difficult for hitter. His slider is a swing-and-miss pitch at 77-80 mph with 1-7 shape, late life and depth. He also has feel for a changeup that has depth and arm side fade at 81, and 84 mph.
