8/20/19

8/20/19:Works out of multiple arm slots giving different looks and velos up top (87-90 mph) and out of a true side-armed slot (83-85 mph), while backing-up the fastball with a two-plane mid-70s breaker.

10/21/16

10/21/16 - Antonio Menendez (Herndon HS, VA), a long and lanky 6-foot-4, 190-pound Wake Forest recruit, is a two-way talent, but showed intriguing upside on the mound. The right-hander works from two angles, but was most effective when he was dealing somewhere between a low-3/4 and sidearm slot. He has an athletic arm, long and loose, with a tailing fastball that ranged between 84-86 mph. He also threw a sweeping slider at 74 mph.

9/29/16

9.29.16 - Wake Forest commit. Long projectable frame. Short swing path in a tall open set up. Hands create some bat speed at the plate. Should continue to get stronger and could project some power at plate… Under-shooter (submarine) with loose, quick hand.  Showed an ability to raise the slot to high-3/4 vs. LHH, occasionally.  Flashed fastball and curveball from the raised slot.  From underneath, sat 82-85 and touched 86 with arm-side sink.  Slider 71-73 with sweeping action. Threw one change at 73.

10/13/15 - Verbally committed to Wake Forest

3.17.16:  Menendez has a lanky frame and throws from multiple slots, submarine and three-quarters. He has a smooth drop and drive delivery and a short arm action that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out to a slightly closed landing. From his natural three-quarters arm slot, Menendez’s fastball was 83-86, touching 87 with hard run. His slider had sharp 10/4 break and ran 70-74. From his submarine slot, his fastball was 79-83 with heavy sink and his slider had sweeping action, running 71-74. Menendez has an advanced feel for how to keep hitters off balance, changing his timing and slot to keep hitters confused. He also has a very quick move to first and understands how to hold runners.

2.15.15 Hit from a tall/balanced stance that was slightly open. Hands went back during the load causing an arm bar. Took a short stride with a leg kick. Good balance. Had a good approach during the round with quiet rhythm that was early.  Bat path was level with extension and some length. Had a line drive/gap-to-gap stroke.  Good hands! Had an Exit Velocity of 86 mph.  In the field, threw from a high ¾ arm slot with a long loose arm action.  Throws were accurate for the most part and had carry.  Played through the baseball.  Showed fluid footwork and soft hands.  Good actions with quick and clean exchanges.  Had a Positional Velocity of 78 mph.

2.15.15 Menendez has a lanky frame and is a sidewinder. He has a long, loose, quick arm action. He has a smooth, explosive rhythm to his delivery and his shoulders are level and he does a good job of staying online before falling off a bit after release. Menendez worked 78-81 mph with his fastball, touching 83 mph with good, late run. He threw a good, late breaking frisbee slider that ran 71-73 mph. He threw a good and a fading change-up that ran 71-74 mph. He had good command of all of his pitches and kept them down.
