2/1/15 - Pete Schuler (Kenosha St. Joseph) has been the No. 1 prospect in the state for quite a while, mostly due to his left-handed bat from the catcher’s position and his long projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. Schuler posted an 88 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.38 in the 60. We’ve seen Schuler take better rounds of BP but he still showed bat speed, and loose hands. His frame still has plenty of room to go and once it fills out, it could take his bat to a whole other level. Defensively his arm played at 74 mph out of the crouch and posted 2.04-2.12 pop times with a short over the top slot.

3/16/14 - Kent State commit, No. 1 ranked 2015 prospect in the state. 6-foot-3, 190-pound left handed hitting catcher, highly projectable frame with a huge upside. Offensively, hits from an open stance, short stride, lower half works. Projects to be a high level left handed hitter with pop. Easily generates bat speed, hands work extremely well. 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively has a strong arm out of the crouch, 79 mph, short over the top arm action, creates carry. Hands show softness receiving the baseball, plays the game with a sense of ease. Schuler is an interesting prospect that should have plenty of pro buzz surrounding him in the future.

8/4/13 - Schuler is one of the more highly touted prospects in the Class of 2015. At 6-foot-3, 180-pounds and swinging a left handed bat from the catching position already puts him in a rare class of prospects. Combine that with the fact that he has a well above average arm behind the plate (79 mph) and a 1.97 pop time and you have a rare breed of catcher that profiles exactly what college coaches are looking for. When Schuler is not calling pitches behind the plate he has the ability to move well laterally and flash soft hands at third base. He also showed an 83 mph arm across the diamond. Schuler might not be as advanced on the infield as he is behind the plate but shows a high level of athleticism that looks promising on the infield as well. Over the last year we’ve seen Schuler tinker with multiple setup and timing triggers. His bat speed and path has always been there and once he gets comfortable with his timing will be a very dangerous hitter. Schuler is getting plenty of attention from the next level and is certainly one of the more highly touted prospects in the Midwest.

3/3/13 - Athletic frame, lean build, long limbed, 6-foot-3, 180-pound left handed hitting catcher. Defensively shows arm strength, 76 mph from the crouch, carries well, stays on line, shows accuracy. Solid hands behind the plate, receives well, added forearm strength will help receiving the low pitch. 2.04-2.14 pop times. Offensively hits from the left side, excellent quiet setup, open stance, smooth load, short stride, starts hands lower, excellent balance throughout. Bat path is short, creates extension, line drive gap to gap hitter, good leverage. Easy swing creates backspin and lift, has power projection, 85 mph exit velocity from the tee.
