Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK
The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals may not have achieved their desired results in the 2024 season, but they head into 2025 with optimism and determination to take a step forward. With their sights set on a return to the AISA playoffs, the Generals bring back a strong core of experienced players ready to make an impact this season.
After falling in the first round of the AISA Class A playoffs in 2024, the Generals are determined to build on last season’s experience and make a deeper postseason run. With seven positional starters and five pitchers returning, they plan to lean on their pitching and defense as key strengths this year. LHP/1B Taylor Bower (Shawnee CC, 2025) is set to be a major contributor on both sides of the ball once again. During his junior season, he logged 39 innings, striking out 42 batters with a 4.48 ERA, while also posting a .231 batting average at the plate. Another key two-way player, RHP/OF Brendan Ward (2026), looks primed for a strong season as well. In 2024, he recorded 32 innings pitched with 26 strikeouts and contributed offensively with a .246 batting average. SS Jayden Buckhannon (2026) returns as a standout junior after a breakout sophomore campaign, in which he hit .388 and swiped 14 bases. The Generals also have promising underclassmen ready to step into key roles, including 3B/RHP Matthew Bush (2027) and 3B/RHP Lucas Shepherd (2028), both of whom are expected to be impact players this spring and valuable pieces for the program’s future. With a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent, Abbeville Christian Academy enters the 2025 season with confidence and a renewed focus on making a deeper playoff push.
Looking forward to this season, the Generals look poised to take a step forward in 2025 with some key returning pieces both at the plate and on the mound. Hoping their pitching and defense will help carry them through the regular season, they should also feature some middle-of-the-order bats that should be able to generate runs on the offensive side of the ball, as well. Look for Abbeville Christian Academy to have a strong year at the AISA level in 2025.
