The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

At the forefront of the 2025 season, the Cedar Bluff Tigers come into this season with high hopes and expectations looking to buld off of last season's playoff appearance in Class 1A with nearly all of their offensive lineup returning. Moving up a classfication to Class 2A this spring, the competition should improve, but the Tigers seem to have the talent and experience to fit right into mix and will hope to get better over the course of the season and into area play.

In Class 1A in 2024, the Tigers finished as the runner-up to Coosa Christian in their area and traveled on the road for their 1st round playoff matchup. Visiting a quality Lynn squad, the Tigers were unfortunately eliminated in two games by scores of 2-0 and 14-6 to close out their season with a 16-13 record. There were still plenty of high points during the 2024 season, including defeating some quality teams in the regular season and accumulating over 15 wins. Hoping to build off of that momentum, the Tigers return eight positional starters and five pitchers from last year's playoff team. Team chemistry and experience should be two of this team's main strengths, as they've played together for a number of years now and are hoping they can make a splash in their first season in Class 2A. Running down the list of some of those notable experienced returners, RHP/OF Caleb Edmondson (2025), RHP/INF Hunter Stallings (2025), RHP/UTL Jacob Chambers (2025), LHP/OF Isaac Bishop (2025), and INF/RHP Bryson Teague (2026) are all upperclassmen who should contribute heavily once again this spring. With mutliple years of starting experience at the varsity level under their belt, these players should also provide quality leadership for this year's team, as well.

Using these talented returning upperclassmen, the Tigers look primed for another quality season this spring. They'll compete in Class 2A, Area 13 against Donoho, Gaston, Pleasant Valley, and Sand Rock for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Hoping to be playing their best baseball down the stretch, the Tigers appear to have the pieces to be right in mix of playoff contention during area play in 2025.
