The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK
After another deep postseason run in 2024 that ended with a state runner-up finish, Central-Phenix City remains one of the premier programs in Alabama high school baseball. With a 145-34 record since 2021 and three consecutive trips to the 7A finals, the Red Devils are hungry to break through and reclaim the championship. A combination of athleticism, pitching depth, and experience gives this team the potential to make another title push.
Several key players return to lead Central-Phenix City in 2025. OF/RHP Emory Yohn (Gulf Coast State CC, 2025), who hit .378 last season, is expected to be a key offensive piece. Power-hitting 3B/RHP Sam Brown (Gulf Coast State CC, 2025) provides a major run-producing presence after blasting 11 home runs in 2024. C Cooper Kehoe (Enterprise State CC, 2025) brings consistency behind the plate while hitting .315 last season, and OF/LHP Briggs Cameron (Enterprise State CC, 2025) delivered some key hits during his junior campaign and logged some important innings on the mound, as well. The pitching staff is also deep with some proven commodities back from last year. RHP/SS Brantley Rothrock (Enterprise State CC, 2025) posted a 1.50 ERA in 25 innings, while OF/LHP Cam Norton (2025) was dominant, going 13-1 on the mound with a 1.73 ERA over 64 innings. RHP Logan Clark (2025) and LHP Nick Slouchick (Point University, 2025) add to the team’s pitching depth, while RHP/OF Carter Freiberg (2025) and RHP/OF Colin Freiberg (2025) are two more solid options who have logged some key innings over the past couple of seasons. A strong senior class includes INF/RHP Joryian Gordan (Stillman College, 2025), RHP/OF Gavin Oswalt (2025), and 1B Bradley Bartholf (Point University, 2025), who should play big roles for the Red Devils in a variety of ways this spring. INF Edward Baldwin (2026) and RHP Logan Wallace (2026) will look to step into bigger roles this season as juniors. The future remains bright with several young prospects set to contribute. RHP/1B Hayden Jones (2027), OF Christian Thomas (2027), and 3B/RHP Tyler Caldwell (2027) could make an impact, while INF Carter Gilley (2028) and INF/RHP Jaylen Carter (2028) are names to watch for this spring and in the future.
With a deep, talented roster and a proven track record of success, Central-Phenix City is once again positioned as a top contender in Class 7A. They'll compete in Class 7A, Area 4 with Auburn, Opelika, and Smiths Station for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. If the Red Devils can capitalize on their experienced core and strong pitching staff, a fourth straight trip to the finals—and a potential state championship—could be within reach.
