The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Dora Bulldogs just narrowly missed out of the Class 4A playoffs in 2024 finishing behind Corner and Cordova at the end of the regular season. This season, the Bulldogs will need to find some newer faces on the mound to replace last year's seniors, but appear to bring back a few quality returning pieces on the offensive side in 2025.

The two main strengths this spring for the Bulldogs look to be their offense and pitching with some quality pieces from last year's 17-win team returning to the Bulldogs' program for this season. Looking to build off of last season and take the next step within their program, the Bulldogs will hope to continue to get better as the season progresses and will aim to be playing at their best as they head into area play. Turning the focus to some of the top returning players for the Bulldogs this season, INF/RHP Cooper Martin (2025) and 1B/RHP Ashton Skalnik (2025) are a pair of seniors who look poised to lead this team that will feature numerous talented underclassmen. Both Martin and Skalnik will look to provide leadership in addition to their efforts on the field. Looking at some of those sophomores, C/RHP Gage Hogland (2027) is coming off a freshman campaign where he recorded 12 2Bs and 26 RBIs, while OF Grayson Stephenson (2027) and RHP/OF Hunter Williams (2027) both did good things last season and will look to take the next step this spring. Stephenson showed off athleticism with 23 SBs last season, while Williams compiled 27 Ks and a 2.23 ERA. INF/RHP Gavin Thompson (2027) is another talented sophomore inside this program to watch for this season, as well.

After just narrowly missing the playoffs in 2024, the Bulldogs should come into the new season motivated and hoping to build off of last year's 17-win season. They'll compete in Class 4A, Area 9 against Cordova, Fultondale, and Tarrant for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Look for Dora to be a strong candidate to reach the playoffs in Class 4A in 2025.
