Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The East Limestone Indians are set to kick off the 2025 season with their sights set on a return to the Class 5A playoffs after falling just short last spring. With a strong and competitive roster, the Indians will strive to secure a top-two finish in their highly contested area by the end of the regular season.

In 2024, the East Limestone Indians finished behind Madison Academy and Ardmore in their area, falling just one game short of a postseason berth. However, with a strong core of returning starters, the team is optimistic about making a playoff push in 2025. The Indians bring back six positional players and four pitchers from last season, relying on a talented group of upperclassmen to lead the way. Among them is 3B/RHP Chris Fitts (2026), who put together an impressive offensive season as a sophomore, hitting .379 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs. He will be a key piece in the lineup, alongside OF/RHP Brodie Coker (2026), who hit .307 with 12 RBIs and swiped 23 bases last season. The pitching staff also returns key contributors, including 1B/RHP Charlie Eslick (2026) and RHP Jacob Brooks (2026). Eslick struck out 49 batters in 41 innings, while Brooks recorded 33 strikeouts over 27 innings. INF/RHP Leyton Coffman (2025) provides additional depth after logging 48.2 innings with 40 strikeouts last spring, while INF Cole Vining (2025) and OF Garrett Ritter (2025) each posted batting averages above .270 and are poised for strong senior campaigns. The underclassmen group also features promising talent, including OF/LHP Cade Parham (2027), who made an impact as a freshman with 26 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Meanwhile, 1B/RHP Landon Compton (2028) will compete for playing time early in the season, adding to the Indians’ depth.

With a strong mix of experienced upperclassmen and promising young talent, the East Limestone Indians have the pieces in place to make a push for the postseason in 2025. After narrowly missing out last year, the team is motivated to take the next step and compete for a top spot in their area. They'll compete in Class 5A, Area 16 against Ardmore, Madison Academy, and Scottsboro for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. If their key returners continue to build on last season’s success and the underclassmen contribute early, the Indians have a solid chance to secure a playoff berth in Class 5A.
