2025 Faith Academy Rams Team Preview

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Faith Academy Rams are coming off a solid 2024 season, finishing with an impressive 21-7 record while competing against tough opponents throughout the regular season. Now moving back down from Class 6A to Class 5A, the Rams are primed to be one of the top contenders heading into the 2025 season.

With 14 AISA State Championships and two AHSAA State Championships in their storied history, the Faith Academy Rams have consistently been one of the top programs in the Mobile area, no matter the level of competition. After a brief rebuilding period following their 2021 Class 6A State Championship, the Rams returned to prominence last season, capturing an area championship and remaining one of the top teams in Class 6A for much of the regular season. Heading into the playoffs on a hot streak with 16 wins in their last 17 games, they faced a tough challenge in the first round, where they were eliminated at home by Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, the eventual Class 6A State Champions. Looking ahead to 2025, Faith Academy brings back a solid group of returning starters on both sides of the ball, with pitching and defense expected to be their main strengths. RHP/INF Riley Hall (Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, 2025) and RHP/1B Brodie Wilson (2027) are two key returners who will play crucial roles. Both two-way players, featuring upper-80s fastballs, should log significant innings and contribute offensively as well. INF Carlos Ortiz (2026) is another important piece of the Rams' offense, coming off a strong sophomore season and looking to continue his success. C Eli Quinley (2027), regarded as one of the top catchers in Alabama’s sophomore class, is poised to make a big impact this spring. Additionally, underclassmen like RHP/OF Grayson Finch (2027) and SS/RHP Kobe Hunt (2027) possess the talent to play significant roles on this year’s squad.

With a strong foundation of returning talent and key underclassmen poised to step up, the Faith Academy Rams are set to remain a top contender in 2025. They'll compete in Class 5A, Area 2 against Citronelle, Mobile Christian, St. Paul's Episcopal, and Vigor for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Facing one of the toughest areas in Class 5A, the Rams will need to be at their best down the stretch, much like they were last season, but they appear ready to take on the challenge in 2025.
