Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Madison Academy enters the 2025 season with high expectations, returning a wealth of experience from last year's 22-win squad that advanced to the Sweet 16. Boasting the largest senior class in program history, the Mustangs have a strong foundation of veteran leadership, work ethic, and team chemistry. With a deep and experienced roster, Madison Academy has the potential to be solid in all three phases—offense, defense, and pitching—making them a formidable contender in Class 5A, Area 16.

The Mustangs return a strong core of impact players from last season, led by an experienced senior class that played a crucial role in 2024. OF Davis Parker (2025) has been one of the team’s most consistent hitters, posting a .333 average with 7 doubles while providing reliability both at the plate and defensively. C/RHP Keaton Watson (2025) is a versatile presence in the lineup, hitting .324 with 10 doubles, a triple, a home run, and 19 RBIs while also contributing behind the plate. SS/RHP Tee Foster (Montevallo, 2025) was one of the Mustangs' most productive players last season, recording a .315 average with 8 doubles, 2 home runs, and 22 RBIs while adding value on the mound. OF Myles Johnson (Eastern Kentucky, 2025) is another key offensive weapon, providing power with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, and 25 RBIs. RHP/1B Shane Duke (Shelton State CC, 2025) adds a strong presence in the lineup, tallying 7 doubles, 3 home runs, and 18 RBIs while also giving the Mustangs depth on the mound. 3B Brayden Gardner (2025) contributed 5 doubles and 20 RBIs last season and will continue to be a key part of the offense. Madison Academy’s depth extends beyond its top returners, as several upperclassmen are expected to play significant roles. Among them is RHP Jack Doyle (Alabama-Huntsville, 2025), who will be instrumental in the team’s success. The Mustangs also feature a few young players who could make an impact this season. LHP/1B Walker Sellars (2027) is a promising left-hander who will add depth to both the rotation and lineup, while C/RHP Grady Moore (2028) already gained varsity experience as an eighth grader, pitching 13 innings last season and showing potential as both a catcher and pitcher.

With a strong mix of senior leadership, returning experience, and promising young talent, Madison Academy is well-positioned to make another deep playoff run in 2025. They'll compete in Class 5A, Area 16 against Ardmore, East Limestone, and Scottsboro for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Expect this team to be a tough matchup all season long as they look to build on last year’s success.
