2025 Madison County Tigers Team Preview

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Madison County Tigers took a strong step forward during the 2024 campaign with an impressive 24-10 record and a Class 4A playoff berth competing in an area with some quality programs. Looking to build off of that momentum this season, the Tigers return a strong core of upperclassmen and a few underclassmen who bring back valuable experience at the varsity level.

Finishing the regular season as the runner-up in their area behind Westminster Christian, the Tigers were dealt a tough 1st round matchup, traveling on the road to Corner. The Tigers were ultimately swept by the eventual Class 4A State Champions during that series to close out their season with a 24-10 record. Looking to lean on their pitching and defense as their main team strengths this season, the Tigers look poised for another successful season in 2025. Looking at some of the notable returners, INF Memphis Scott (Alabama-Huntsville, 2025), OF Braden Reed (2025), and OF/RHP Nick Broadbent (2025) are a trio of seniors who will be looked upon heavily on the offensive side, as they all three bring back some offensive production over the past couple of seasons. Scott is a multi-year starter who returns to the heart of the order, while Reed and Broadbent are coming off quality junior campaigns. INF/RHP Connor Drake (2026) is another returning upperclassmen who looks poised to build off of a strong sophomore season, while OF/LHP Jace Duckett (2027) had a breakout freshman campaign at the plate and on the mound and looks ready to take another big step forward this spring. 1B/LHP Bryson Trammell (2025) and RHP Riley Tipton (2025) are two more seniors to watch for in the upperclassmen group, as well. Shifting the focus to the underclassmen group, the Tigers are excited about the futures of INF/RHP Eli Cantrell (2027), INF Levi Cooper (2027), and OF/RHP Lawson Price (2028). All three should be important pieces for the future of their program, while also looking to compete for playing time in the early part of the season.

After a strong 2024 campaign in Class 4A, the Tigers look poised to build on it this season with some key returning pieces on both sides of the ball. They'll compete in Class 4A, Area 16 against D.A.R., New Hope, North Jackson, and Plainview for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. With a balanced mix of seasoned leaders and emerging talent, the Tigers are poised to take another step forward and make an even deeper run this season.
