2025 North Jackson Chiefs Team Preview

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a historic 2024 season that saw the Chiefs make a deep run to the Elite 8, the team enters 2025 with high expectations. Despite some fresh faces on the roster, the Chiefs return a solid core of talent and are primed to compete at a high level once again.

Last season, the Chiefs finished as the runner-up in their area behind Etowah, and after a 1st round matchup on the road in the playoffs, they showed their toughness by sweeping Jacksonville and Haleyville in the first two rounds. Their playoff run came to an end in the Elite 8, where they were eliminated by a Westbrook Christian team that would go on to finish as the Class 4A runner-up. Now, the focus turns to 2025, with hopes of advancing even further in the postseason. Pitching and defense are expected to be the Chiefs' strengths this spring—two essential components for any successful playoff run. With key returners like SS Bodie Burnette (2026) and INF Logan Shoemake (2025), who both played pivotal roles in last year’s 31-win season, the Chiefs should be in good hands. Both players bring valuable experience and are poised to build on a strong 2024 campaign. In addition to Burnette and Shoemake, the Chiefs will rely on a mix of experienced and emerging talent to round out the roster.

Looking to replicate last year's success, the Chiefs will once again be a quality program in watch throughout the season in Class 4A. They'll compete in Class 4A, Area 16 against D.A.R., Madison County, New Hope, and Plainview for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. The Chiefs should field another solid club in Class 4A this spring with aspirations of making another deep playoff run in 2025.
