The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK
After a strong 2024 campaign that saw them reach the Final Four, Springville returns an experienced and well-balanced roster that is built to contend again in 2025. With eight returning positional starters and five key pitchers, the Tigers boast a deep and experienced pitching staff, team chemistry, and speed, making them a dangerous opponent in Class 5A.
Springville’s pitching staff will be its biggest strength, led by RHP Carter Samuelson (Alabama-Birmingham, 2025), who posted a 9-2 record with a stellar 0.879 ERA last season. RHP Alex Holland (Marion Military CC, 2025) adds another dominant arm after going 6-2 with a 1.27 ERA, while SS/RHP Ryan King (2026) brings versatility and late-game dominance, tallying a 5-0 record with 8 saves and a 2.93 ERA. 3B/RHP Kade Willis (2025) also proved to be a valuable two-way player, going 6-3 with a 2.57 ERA. At the plate, 1B Grant Martinez (2026) is a key power bat after hitting .330 with 34 RBIs and 2 home runs in 2024. OF Jake Conner (2025) adds more pop to the lineup with a .316 average and 2 home runs. C Sean Nichols (Marion Military CC, 2025) is a leader behind the plate whose defensive ability is invaluable to the Tigers' success. INF Kevin Jones (2025) and UTL Jacob Bailey (2025) provide strong intangibles, leadership, and game knowledge that will be crucial throughout the season. Springville’s young talent will also play a role in 2025, with OF Charlie Hare (2027) and INF Brennan Archer (2028) standing out as potential future stars. LHP Matthew Murray (2027) is a name to watch as he continues to develop on the mound.
With a veteran pitching staff, strong leadership, and a deep lineup, Springville is positioned for another strong postseason run. They'll compete in Class 5A, Area 12 against Center Point, Corner, and Hayden for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. If their experienced arms continue to dominate and their offensive core produces, expect the Tigers to be a legitimate Class 5A title contender in 2025.
