Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 3

The Alabama Diamond Notes will showcase standout performances from across the state, based on nominations from high school coaches. Each Wednesday throughout the high school season, we will recognize position players, pitchers, and two-way players who delivered impressive performances during their team's games. A special thank you to the many coaches who submitted nominations this week. The following stats reflect games played from March 3rd - 8th.

Myles Johnson OF / RHP / Madison Academy, AL / 2025The Eastern Kentucky commit was 8-12 (.667) last week for the 5A No. 3 Mustangs. He had three triples and scored four runs. He also drove in two runs after appearing in last week's Diamond Notes as a pitcher. |

Bodie Giddiens 3B / 1B / Bibb County High School, AL / 2025A uncommitted senior infielder, Giddiens hit an even .500 (8-16) last week for the Choctaws as they climbed to the number three spot in 4A. Of his eight hits, two went for home runs and four went for doubles to go along with five runs driven in. |

Hayden Udovich SS / 2B / James Clemens, AL / 2026Udovich, an uncommitted junior, was 7-16 (.438) last week for the Jets. He drove in two runs and stole five bases during the week. He also reached base an additional two more times via hit-by-pitch while scoring two runs. |

Trip Morgan 1B / 3B / James Clemens High School, AL / 2025Morgan, an uncommitted senior, was 5-13 (.385) last week with two doubles and a home run. He also scored two runs and drove in three runs. |

Will Congo OF / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2027Congo was 5-14 (.357) last week for the Jets. The sophomore belted two doubles and a home run during the week. He also scored three runs and drove in two additional runs. Congo walked twice and had a stolen base. |

Jesse Isensee SS / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2026Isensee, an uncommitted junior, was 5-14 (.357) last week with a double and five runs driven in. He also reached base twice via walk and stole two bases. |

Jaden Charles OF / SS / Hazel Green High School, AL / 2025Charles, a former Prep Baseball Future Gamer, was 5-11 (.455) last week as the Trojans went 3-0. The uncommitted senior had a double and five stolen bases while scoring five runs. |

Colton Clark SS / 3B / Hazel Green, AL / 2027The sophomore went 3-5 (.600) last week with two doubles and five runs driven in. He also reached base five more times via walk. On the mound, Clark was 1-0 tossing five innings of three-hit baseball. He allowed one earned run in a win over Hartselle. |

Mason Holloway OF / 2B / Hamilton, AL / 2027The sophomore finds his name on the list again this week after going 6-11 (.545) last week for the Aggies. Holloway also scored two runs and had stolen bases. |

Tyler Butts SS / RHP / Oneonta, AL / 2026Butts, an uncommitted junior, was 7-11 (.636) last week with two doubles. He drove in two runs and scored four runs as well. He added to his week by walking twice and stealing two bases. |

Carter Clyde OF / RHP / Oneonta, AL / 2026Clyde was 6-11 (.545) last week for the Redskins. The uncommitted junior had a triple, a double and three stolen bases. He also walked twice during the week. |

Tanner Hermesch RHP / 3B / Bob Jones, AL / 2025The Shelton State CC recruit starred in a two-way role last week for the 7A No. 2 Patriots. Offensively he was 4-7 (.571) with two doubles and and a run driven in. He scored a run and walked once as well. On the mound, he went 1-0 as he tossed 4.1 innings only allowing one hit. He did not allow a run, while striking out three as opposing hitters hit only .083 against him. |

Price Stephens C / OF / Gulf Shores, AL / 2026An uncommitted junior C/OF, Stephens was 4-10 (.400) last week for the Dolphins. He had a double and a run driven in to go with three walks. He also scored two runs. |

Jacob O'Bryan OF / Gulf Shores, AL / 2026O'Bryan was 6-14 (.429) a week ago with three runs driven while also scoring seven runs. The uncommitted junior drew a walk and had four stolen bases. |

Aden O'Rourke 1B / Boaz, AL / 2025O'Rourke had a monster week for the Pirates as he was 9-13 (.692) with two doubles and four runs driven in. He also came through with a walkoff RBI single in an eight inning 2-1 win over Albertville. |

Gabe Jones RHP / OF / Oak Mountain High School, AL / 2025The Enterprise State CC recruit had an impressive week in a two-way role for the Eagles. Offensively, Jones was 8-15 (.533) with two doubles and a triple. He also drove in eight runs, scored six times and walked twice. On the mound, he got the win against Etowah by going six innings with eight strikeouts. |

Fuller Chisholm 3B / C / Saraland High School, AL / 2025An uncommitted senior shortstop, Chisholm continues to put up big numbers early in the 2025 season. A week ago he was 6-11 (.545) with a home run, a triple and three doubles. Chisholm also drove in seven runs. |

Macain McMillan RHP / OF / Bibb County, AL / 2025An uncommitted senior right hander, McMillan was 1-0 last week as he got the win on the mound against Ariton. He tossed all seven innings, scattering four hits and striking out nine. He did not allow an earned run and did not walk anyone. |

Gus Whatley RHP / Indian Springs, AL / 2026Whatley totalled ten innings on the mound last week, which included a complete-game shutout win over Victory Christian. For the week, he struck out nine and only allowed five hits while not giving up an earned run. |

Matthew Drinkwater 3B / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2026Drinkwater, an uncommitted junior, is a legit two-way guy for the Jets as he excelled on the mound last week. He was 1-0 with a complete game win over Brentwood (TN). He allowed only one hit and struck out six. Drinkwater did not allow an earned run. |

Scott Sieja RHP / OF / James Clemens, AL / 2025Sieja was 1-0 last week as he tossed 6.1 innings to get the win over Independence (TN). The uncommitted senior struck out 11 and scattered five hits while allowing two earned runs. |

Coley Gilstrap OF / LHP / Hamilton, AL / 2027The sophomore southpaw was 1-0 last week with a complete game (7 IP) shutout over 1A No. 1 Hackleburg. He allowed two earned runs and struck out three while pounding the zone at a 66% strike efficiency. |

Inman Carson C / RHP / Oneonta, AL / 2027The sophomore right hander earned a save last week while also turning in a quality start that resulted in a no-decision. Carson threw 7.1 innings for the week and allowed only four hits. He struck out six and allowed one earned run. |

Joshua Wilhide RHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2026Wilhide, an uncommitted junior, helped the 7A No. 2 Patriots defeat 7A No. 4 Thompson with a brilliant start on the mound. He worked 4.2 innings of three-hit baseball and did not allow a run. Opposing hitters only hit .176 against him as he struck out four. |

Woods Mcelroy 1B / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2027Mcelroy, a sophomore right-hander, continues to give the Dolphins quality starts as he was 1-0 last week. He tossed five innings and did not allow a hit or a run. He struck out one and walked one over that span. |

Tyler Pierce RHP / SS / Boaz, AL / 2025Pierce, a West Alabama football recruit as a QB, turned in a brilliant performance last week as the Pirates defeated Albertville in eight innings. The senior threw all eight innings (98 pitches) and allowed one hit and walked only two batters. He did not allow an earned run and struck out 16 Aggies. |

Luke Reed LHP / North Sand Mountain School, AL / 2026The junior southpaw was 1-0 with a save last week for the Bison. He totalled 7.1 innings on the mound while not walking anyone or not allowing a run. He scattered six hits and struck out ten opposing hitters. |

Carson Harvey RHP / North Sand Mountain, AL / 2026An uncommitted junior, Harvey tossed nine innings a week ago while going 1-0 on the mound. He allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out 11 over two outings. One outing was a complete-game (5 IP) win over Pisgah. |
