February 25- March 2 AHSAA Players of the Week:

As the season gets in to full swing we have another very solid group of "Players of the Week". Thanks to the numerous high school coaches that nominated close to 50 players statewide. Our job of narrowing that list down was truly intensive. In all, we have 5 positional players, 8 pitchers and 4 dual guys that have earned statewide "Player of the Week" honors this week. That list includes:

Peyton Wesson (2019, LHP, Fayetteville) In his start this week, he went 7 innings on the mound with 18 K's, allowed 1 hit and 1 BB. In 13 IP in 2019 he has allowed 2 hits, 2 BB's and struck out 33. 

Daniel Swatek (2019, RHP/3B, Hoover) Threw 8 1/3 innings this week while only allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 BB and 13 K's including a 7 inning 1 hit, 10 K performance vs. Helena, Earned 2 wins on the mound and was 3-12 at the plate with a 2B and an RBI.

Colby Richey (2019, RHP, Beulah) The senior threw 10 innings this week allowing 2 ER and had 6 K's, For the year he is 4-0 with a 1.86 ERA.

Cam Hill (2020, 1B, Bob Jones) The Auburn commit had an impressive week at the plate going 8-17 with 2 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 SB and scored 4 runs. 

Jackson Kimbrell (2019, LHP, Oak Mountain) The Ole MIss signee faced the minimum in his only start of the week going 7 innings allowing 1 hit and and striking out 13. Picked off the only runner that reached base. 

Tyler Colton (2020, RHP, West Blocton) The junior threw a 7 inning no hitter vs. Heritage Christian with 14 K's and and only 1 BB. He is 2-0 on the year with 2 complete game shutouts and and has only allowed 3 hits on the year. 

Dylan Johnson (2021, IF, Priceville) Offensively, the sophomore was 5-9 on the week with 3 BB, 1 HP, 5 RBI and 1 SB.  

Matt Dailey (2019, LHP/1B, Huntsville) The senior threw 6 innings vs. Hazel Green striking out 13. The University of Montevallo signee also had 2 hits at the plate with an RBI.

Anthony Gurba (2020, RHP, Charles Henderson) The junior threw a complete game shutout vs. Saraland allowing only 2 hits while his teammate Brock Huner (2021, RHP, Charles Henderson) did the same vs. Prattville in a complete game win.

Samuel Dutton (2021, RHP, Westbrook Christian) The LSU commit went 7 innings shutting out Russellville. He allowed 3 hits with 18K's and did not issue a BB.

Chip Morgan (2021, 3B, Andalusia) The sophomore was 5-7 at the plate for the week and was 1-0 on the mound getting a W vs. Charles Henderson HS. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run with 5 K's.

Dayne Palmer (2019, RHP/SS, Lauderdale County) He was 2-0 on the mound for the week throwing 10 innings while only giving up 1 ER, including a complete game win vs. Lawrence County. Offensively he was 4-13 at the plate with 3 RBI's and 2 SB.

Bill Williams (2019 RHP/OF, Ardmore) The senior went 5 innings on the mound allowing 2 hits with 9 K's while only giving up 1 ER. Offensively he was 2-2 with 2 RBI's in the game. 

Zane Faulk (2019, C, Smiths Station) He continues his torrid pace at the pate to start the 2019 season. For the week he was 7-12 with 5 2B, 4 BB and 10 RBI's. 

Caden Hare (2021, RHP, Smiths Station) Hare had 2 appearances on the week, throwing 9 innings. He allowed only 2 hits with 8 K's and 0 ER. He was 1-0 on the week. 

Trey Higgins (2021, SS, Oxford) Much like Faulk, Higgins has had a scorching start to the season. For the week he was 7-11 with 1 2B, 1 3B and 2 HR's. He also had 6 RBI's, 4 SB and scored 9 runs.
