OUTLOOK:

The West Morgan Rebels enter the 2020 season with a ton of experience, including 100% of their innings pitched from a year ago. In all, Coach Matt Hutto’s team returns eight positional starters and six pitchers in 2020. Senior 3B Matthew Parrish returns to the hot corner again in 2020 and will be looked on to provide leadership and run production in the lineup. ‘20 OF/DH Cameron Stephens also returns to the lineup after mostly seeing time as the DH a year ago. Stephens will still see some time as the DH but will also see time in the outfield as well. Another senior, CF/2B Ashton Owens also returns after leading the team in hitting a season ago with a .392 batting average. Owens is a very versatile player that will see time at a few positions this year. ‘20 OF Garrett Weatherwax is another solid outfielder that returns after a solid junior season that saw him hit .324 on the year. Junior 2B/SS/RHP Colby Hutto hit .387 a year ago with a .500 OB% out of the leadoff spot. Hutto was also 4-1 on the mound with a 1.88 ERA and will be looked on again this season in a two way role. ‘21 C/3B/RHP Gavine Segars is an athletic catcher that returns after a very good sophomore season that saw him defend at a high level and also did a nice job producing out of the two hole in the offensive lineup. Several sophomores return after producing as freshman in 2019. ‘22 SS/RHP Skyler Hutto returns after an impressive freshman season that saw him go 7-1 on the mound with 2 saves and a 2.14 ERA. Hutto also produced with the bat hitting .383 for the Rebels. ‘22 OF/3B/RHP Kaden Cook also returns after seeing extensive time on the mound (over 20 innings pitched) and was the starter in left field as well. Dylan Owens is a sophomore RHP/1B/3B that saw time on the mound in 2019, mainly out of the bullpen. He will toe the rubber again in 2020 and could also see time at 1B this season. Another sophomore that was used mainly out of the bullpen in 2019 is RHP/OF Logan Maples. Maples will once again see time on the mound and could see more time in the outfield as well.
