Mobile, AL- The Daphne Trojans opened defeated Spanish Fort 7-0 to open a weekend rivalry series. Dom Castronova (No. 144, 2021, Bishop State) tossed a complete game shutout. He struck out thirteen Toros while allowing only four hits. Castonova located his fastball well and kept Spanish Fort hitters off balance with his breaking ball. Hayden Chason got the Trojans on the board with a clutch two out single in the 2nd inning. Drake Seibert (2022, No. 66) walked to lead off the third inning. Seibert then stole second and third base. Kaden Pierce drove in Seibert with a single to left field to give Daphne 2-0 lead. Pierce scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. Chason would single again in the fourth inning. He later scored on a Grae Cole ground ball to third base. The Trojans took a 4-0 lead into the fifth inning. Aaron Threat’s second single of the night started what appeared to be a Spanish Fort rally in the fifth. Pierce Hoover (2022) walked and Matthew Thompson (No. 130, 2022) reached on an error to load the with nobody out. In the pivotal moment of the game, Castronova struck out the next three hitters and left three stranded for the Toros. In the bottom of the fifth, Seibert singled and stole his fourth base of the night. Pierce drove in Seibert to give the Trojans a 5-0 lead. Gann Nobles (2022) singled in Pierce and Jackson Howard (No. 24, 2022, University of South Alabama) scored on a passed ball to conclude the scoring for the Trojans
