Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 4


PBR Alabama Staff

The Alabama Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

Thomas Kerny LHP / OF / Priceville, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior had a big week in a dual role for the 4A No. 3 Bulldogs. He was 1-0 on the mound with a complete game win as he allowed four hits and struck 15. With the bat, he was 3-8 (.375 BA) with three doubles and two runs batted in. 

ZacH Chaney C / 2B / Priceville , AL / 2023

The UT-Southern signee was 5-9 (.556 BA) this week with five doubles and six runs driven in. He also scored eight runs, walked three times and was hit-by-pitch three times. Chaney was also 5/5 on stolen bases. 

Xander Gaines OF / Priceville, AL / 2023

The senior outfielder hit at a .625 clip (5-8) this week with a triple and a double. The uncommitted senior also drove in two runs, scored two more and was 2/2 on stolen bases. 

Joseph Garrison RHP / 1B / Priceville, AL / 2023

Garrison is headed to Troy as a pitcher but this week he is mentioned for his offensive prowess. For the week, he was 6-11 (.545 BA) with three doubles and four runs driven in. He also scored three runs. 

Mason Holloway OF / 2B / Hamilton, AL / 2027

An eighth grader, Holloway was 6-17 (.353 BA) with four doubles, seven runs batted in while also scoring eight runs as well. He also was hit-by-pitch four times and walked twice to pile up a .522 OBP. He also stole five bases. 

Bo Hester 3B / RHP / Boaz, AL / 2023

Hester helped the Pirates to an impressive week as he hit .500 (6-12) during the week that included two doubles. He also drove in three runs. 

Tyler Pierce SS / RHP / Boaz, AL / 2025

Pierce had an impressive week in a tw0-way role as he tossed seven innings on the mound while only allowing two hits and not surrendering an earned run. He only walked one and struck out 11 hitters. With the bat, he hit .444 (8-18) with four runs batted in and a double. He also had the game winning hit in the Pirate win versus Oneonta. 

Carson Creehan 1B / OF / Madison Academy, AL / 2023

The Mustangs enjoyed a successful week and Creehan was a big part of that success. The UNA football (QB) signee was 11-22 (.500 BA) with a homerun and seven runs batted in while also playing stellar defense around the bag at 1B. 

Memphis Scott 2B / C / Madison County , AL / 2025

The sophomore finds his name on the list again as he was 7-15 (.467 BA) with a double and four runs batted in during the week. He also walked four times, stole four bases and scored two runs. 

Jake Donaldson RHP / SS / Ragland, AL / 2023

Donaldson had an impressive week in a two-way role as he was 1-0 on the mound with five innings pitched allowing five hits and striking out five as well. He did not issue a walk nor did he allow a run. He was also 6-8 (.750 BA) with two home runs, a double and six runs driven in and scored six more. 

Kennith Dalton Jackson 3B / Florala, AL / 2025

The sophomore has helped Florala to a 6-1 start and No. 10 ranking in 1A. This week he was 8-9 (.889 BA) with a double and triple. He also scored three runs, drove in five runs and had three stolen bases. He his hitting .591 for the year. On the mound, he threw five innings and allowed three hits and struck out 12 hitters. 

Drew Puccio SS / 2B / Arab , AL / 2025

The sophomore shortstop was 6-13 (.462 BA) with a double and 11 runs batted in. Puccio scored eight runs, walked seven times and had five stolen bases. He got on base at a .636 clip for the week. 

Spencer Strickland OF / Arab, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior was 6-8 (.750 BA) with four doubles as he has helped the Knights get off to a 14-5 start and a 5A No. 7 ranking. Strickland also drove in three runs during the week.

Andrew Dudley 3B / C / New Hope, AL / 2025

Dudley got a complete game win with five ininngs pitched, scattering three hits and striking out four. Offensively, he was 3-7 (.429 BA) with a walk and a stolen base. He got on base at a .500 clip. 

Colby Hall OF / OF / New Hope, AL / 2024

Hall, a junior, was 5-9 (.556 BA) as the Indians competed in the Gulf Coast Classic in Gulf Shores. He had a double and also walked three times. His OBP for the week was .667. 

Brendon Byrd OF / LHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior was 6-9 (.667 BA) with a double and six runs batted in. He had an OBP of .750 while scoring four runs, walking three times and stealing two bases.  

Connor Gehr SS / RHP / Gulf Shores , AL / 2024

Gehr has found his name on the list multiple times and this week his offensive numbers get him on the list again. He was 8-13 (.615 BA) with a double and three runs batted in. He scored four runs while also stealing three bases. His OBP for the week was .667. 

Hudson Marks 1B / Athens, AL / 2026

Marks, a freshman 1B, had a stellar week for the 6A Golden Eagles. He was 8-13 (.615 BA) with three runs scored. Marks came through in some big situations as he also drove in three runs.

Kareem Keye / Minor, AL / 2023

The senior SS/RHP was 2-0 for the week on the mound. He threw ten innings, scattering four hits and allowing only three earned runs to go with 11 strikeouts. He was also 12-22 (.545 BA) with eight runs scored while driving in seven runs. Keye also had 11 stiolen bases. 

Ethan Bucher SS / RHP / Minor, AL / 2025

The sophomore was 9-13 (.692 BA) during the week that included six runs driven in. He scored ten runs while also drawing five walks and stealing 14 bases. 

Jacob Pearl 2B / OF / Bob Jones, AL / 2024

An uncommitted junior, Pearl hit .545 (6-11) for the week with two home runs, a triple and a double. He drove in nine runs, scored six more runs and stole a base. Pearl also walked five times. 

Brooks Womble SS / 3B / Saraland, AL / 2024

The uncommitted junior was 7-12 (.583 BA) with three doubles and two triples during the week while also stealing nine bases. Womble also had a big homerun that turned out to be the difference in a 1-0 win for the Spartans over Mobile Christian. 

Ty Marsh 3B / SS / James Clemens, AL / 2025

The sophomore was 6-12 (.500 BA) during the Jets games in the PBR Alabama North Alabama Showdown. He had a double and drove in two runs while scoring four runs. He also walked once and had an OBP of .538. 

Nathan Guyse 1B / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2023

Guyse, an uncommitted senior, was 4-9 (.444 BA) over the last week. He had two doubles and drove in a run. He also walked two times and was hit-by-pitch once as well. His OBP for the week was .538.

Streed Crooms 2B / RHP / Bayshore Christian, AL / 2023

Crooms, a Lurleen B. Wallace CC signee, twirled a seven inning masterpiece in a win over Daphne. He was 1-0 (7 IP) as he scattered five hits and did not walk anyone. He struck out eight hitters and did not allow an earned run. 

Joseph Aycock 2B / OF / Hamilton , AL / 2023

Aycock was 3-0 during the week with and did not allow an earned run. He also did not issue a walk and allowed only seven hits. he struck out 13 hitters and opponents only hit .137 against him. 

Brody King RHP / OF / Huntsville, AL / 2024

The South Alabama commit had an impressive outing this week for the Panthers as he earned a complete game win (5 IP) against Calera, OK. He did not allow a hit while walking three and and striking out ten hitters. For the year, King is 3-0 and has only allowed four hits with 34 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched. 

Sam Mitchell RHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2023

The Alabama signee continues to dominate on the mound for the 7A No. 3 Patriots. This week he was 2-0 with eight innings pitched and 19 strikeouts. He allowed only three hits and thre earned runs while opponents hit .097 against him. This included a complete game no-hitter with 15 strikeouts versus 4A No. 1 Bayside Academy. 

Bryson Goff LHP / 1B / Saraland , AL / 2023

Goff got an impressive 1-0 win over 5A No. 2 Mobile Christian as he went all seven inings on the moound. The East Central CC signee allowed only two hits and issued one walk. He struck out 13 and while not allowing a run. 

Luke Davenport RHP / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2024

The junior Auburn commit was 1-0 this week as he got the complete game win in the Jets victory over Athens on Friday night. He tossed 6 innings and allowed only one earned run. He walked three and struck out 13 hitters. 

Sammy Vander Hill OF / RHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2023

Vanderhill, a VMI signee, was 6-18 (.333 BA) with a homerun, a triple and two doubles. He also drove in six runs and scored ten rules as well. The senior also walked six times and stole three bases.
