The Alabama Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

Reid Achimon 2B / Gulf Shores , AL / 2023 The uncommitted senior was 6-9 (.667 BA) this week with two doubles. He also drove in three runs, scored two runs while walking twice. Achimon had an OBP of .727 and also had five sacrifices.

Connor Gehr SS / RHP / Gulf Shores , AL / 2024 Gehr was 9-14 (.643 BA) this week with a double and eight runs driven in. One of the top uncommitted juniors in Alabama, he also scored three runs while stealing two bases also.

Dominic Maldet C / Gulf Shores, AL / 2023 The Montevallo signee had an impressive week helping the Dolphins wrap up an area championship. For the week he was 6-10 (.600 BA) with two doubles and a home run. He drove in three runs and scored three more. Maldet walked three times, was hit-by-pitch once while accumulating a .714 OBP.

Joseph Stephens SS / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2024 The uncommitted junior was 6-12 (.500 BA) this week with three runs driven while scoring seven more runs. He walked twice and stole three bases while also being a perfect 3/3 in save opportunities on the mound.

Blake Moon 1B / LHP / Arab, AL / 2023 The uncommitted senior continues to produce in a tw-way role for the 5A No. 3 Knights. With the bat he was 3-7 (.429 BA) which included his third grand slam of the year plus a double while scoring two runs. On the mound, Moon went 1-0 with five innings pitched while allowing only one earned run with six strikeouts, The southpaw has accumulated some impressive stats on the mound this season: 8-0, 42.2 IP, 30 H, 8 ER, 13 BB, 55 K, 1.31 ERA.

Memphis Scott 2B / C / Madison County , AL / 2025 The sophomore was 5-9 (.556 BA) this week with a triple and three runs driven in. He also scored three runs to go along with four walks. Scott also had two stolen bases to go along with a .714 OBP.

Drake McBride OF / RHP / Thompson , AL / 2024 McBride, a Troy commit, was 6-9 (.667 BA) with three home runs and nine runs batted in for the 7A No. 1 Warriors. He also scored five runs and walked four times while finishing the week with a .768 OBP.

Drew Pridgen OF / Jacksonville, AL / 2023 The senior outfielder was 4-6 (.667 BA) during the week with six runs driven in and two runs scored. He also walked three times. On the mound he tossed two innings, allowing three hits with two strikeouts and one run.

Aidan Cook OF / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2024 The junior outfielder was 4-7 (.571 BA) this week as the Jets earned a sweep to kick off area play. He had a double and drove in three runs and also scored four runs. He walked three times and was hit-by-pitch once.

Trent Weatherly C / C / Headland, AL / 2023 The uncommitted senior was 3-5 (.600 BA) this week as the 5A No. 1 Rams wrapped up an Area 3 championship. He drove in six runs and scored two runs while continuing to show solid defensive actions behind the plate.

Wes Walker C / 3B / Priceville , AL / 2024 A week after earning Mizuno Player of the Week, Walker finds his name on this list this week after going 6-9 (.667 BA) for the week. He had three doubles and drove in four runs while also walking twice and being hit-by-pitch three times.

Ty Parker 2B / SS / Priceville, AL / 2023 The senior infielder was 5-9 (.556 BA) during the week for the 4A No. 2 Bulldogs. Parker had two triples and drove in four runs. He also scored four runs and walked three times. He also stole a base as well.

Corey Richardson Jr. LHP / 1B / Minor , AL / 2024 Richardson, a junior, had a very impressive week with the bat as he was 12-14 (.857 BA) this week with nine runs scored while also driving in six runs. He walked four times and also had three stolen bases.

Noah Long OF / LHP / Boaz , AL / 2023 The senior outfielder was 8-14 (.571 BA) this week for the Pirates. He drove in five runs as Boaz went 3-1 during the week. Of his eight hits, he had two doubles and a triple.

Tyler Whaley C / 3B / Boaz , AL / 2023 Whaley, a senior catcher, put up some impressive numbers during the week as he was 8-13 (.615 BA) for the Pirates. This included one home run as he also drove in ten runs over the course of the week.

Streed Crooms 2B / RHP / Bayshore Christian, AL / 2023 The LBW CC signee was brilliant on the mound in a 3-0 win over St. Luke's as he got the win in six innings of work. He allowed only two hits and only walked two and did not allow a run. Crooms struck out 16 hitters for 2A No. 1 Bayshore Christian.

Brooks Olive LHP / Dothan, AL / 2023 Olive, a Southern Union CC signee, earned a complete game win (7 IP) in the Wolves 1-0 victory over Prattville. He allowed only four hits and did not allow a run. He only walked one and struck out eight opposing hitters.

Kennith Dalton Jackson 3B / Florala, AL / 2025 Jackson continued his dominance on the mound this week for 1A No. 8 Florala as he went 2-0. He only allowed one earned run over 8.2 innings while striking out 18 hitters. He scattered six hits and only walked three hitters. Jackson has put up an impressive stat line so far in 2023: 4-0, 17.2 IP, 4 ER, 39 K, 1.58 ERA.

Nicholas Sharp 2B / SS / Madison County, AL / 2024 Sharp, an uncommitted junior, was the tough-luck loser in a nine inning area contest as he went 7.1 innings on the mound and only allowed three hits. He did not allow an earned run and struck out nine opposing hitters.

Jerry McDowell LHP / Fairhope, AL / 2025 The sophomore southpaw went 2-0 this week for the 7A No. 9 Pirates with wins over Elberta and Mobile Christian. He tossed six innings on the mound as he only allowed two hits and one run. he walked only three and struck out 13 hitters.

Zack Munger RHP / Baker , AL / 2023 Munger, a Bishop State CC signee, turned in a complete game effort for the Hornets last week. He tossed seven innings and did not allow a run while only walking one. He scattered five hits and struck out nine.

Griffin Winn RHP / Fort Payne, AL / 2026 The freshman turned in a quality outing, albeit in a loss to a powerful offensive lineup in 6A No. 1 Oxford. Will tunred in a complete game (7 IP) and only allowed four hits with a walk while striking out two. Hitters only hit .167 against him as he needed only 87 pitches over those seven innings.

Evan Hilliard 3B / RHP / Saraland, AL / 2024 Hilliard, an uncommitted junior, earned a complete game win (7 IP) over Faith Academy in a 3-2 Spartan win. He did not allow an earned run while scattering three hits. He also struck out seven opposing hitters.

Mason Busch RHP / OF / James Clemens, AL / 2024 The uncommitted junior continues to turn in quality outing for the 7A No. 10 Jets. This week he went 1-0 with 6.1 innings on the mound, only allowing two hits. He did not allow an earned run as opposing hitters hit only .095 against him. He walked three and struck out nine.

Trey Scott OF / RHP / Headland, AL / 2024 Scott, an uncommitted junior, had another solid week for the 5A No. 1 Rams. He went 1-0 with seven innings pitched and only allowed one earned run. A guy that Headland will continue to depend on, he scattered three hits and struck out seven opposing hitters.

Colman Gann RHP / OF / Priceville , AL / 2025 The sophomore right hander threw a complete game (6 IP) no-hitter for the 4A No. 2 Bulldogs this week. As he continually kept hitters off balance, Gann only issued one walk while striking out eight opposing hitters.

Colin Patterson RHP / 1B / West Limestone , AL / 2023 Patterson, a UAB signee, was the tough-luck loser in a highly anticipated pitching matchup as went six innings on the mound. He allowed only three hits and did not allow an earned run while striking out eight. For the year Patterson has an impressive state line: 51 IP, 90 K, 1.51 ERA.

Sam Mitchell RHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2023 The Alabama signee continues to produce in a two-way role for the 7A No. 5 Patriots. This week, Mitchell was dominant in his first area start of the year as he got a complete game win (7 IP) while only allowing two hits and no earned runs. He walked four and struck out 15 hitters.

Aiden Poe SS / RHP / Vincent, AL / 2025 Poe, a sophomore, continues to dominate on the mound for 2A No. 5 Vincent as he went 1-0 this week with five innings pitched. He did not issue a walk while not allowing a run. He scattered two hits and struck out 12. For the year, Poe has racked up 68 strikeouts to go along with a 1.19 ERA.

Skylar Tucker 1B / LHP / Lauderdale County, AL / 2025 Tucker, a sophomore southpaw, had a dominant outing this week as he tossed seven innings and only allowed one hit and one walk. He did not give up a run and struck out 14 opposing hitters.

Miles Edwards RHP / Lauderdale County, AL / 2024 The uncommitted junior went six innings on the mound this week and did not allow a hit or a run while walking four to go along with 12 strikeouts. With the bat, Edwards was 7-13 (.538 BA) with two doubles and six runs driven in. He also scored three runs.
