Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 8

The Alabama Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

Braden Booth RHP / 3B / Bob Jones , AL / 2024

The Mississipi State commit continues to swing the bat well for the 7A No. 4 Patriots. This week he was 9-17 (.529 BA) with two doubles, two triples and a home run. Booth drove in seven runs and scored six runs. He also walked twice and had four stolen bases. 

Nate Mayfield SS / RHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2023

Mayfield, a Coastal Alabama CC signee, was 8-17 (.471 BA) last week with two doubles and a triple and a home run. He drove in four runs and also scored five runs as well. 

CJ Bush OF / RHP / Bob Jones , AL / 2023

The Coastal Alabama- East CC signee hit .583 (7-12) during the week that included three doubles. He also had a home run and drove in five runs. The senior scored eight runs, walked twice, was hit-by-pitch three times and had two stolen bases. 

Sam Mitchell RHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2023

The Alabama signee once again finds his name on the list as he continues to pr0duce in a two-way role for the Patriots. On the mound he was 1-0 as he got a complete game (7 IP) win while scattering three hits and not allowing a run. He struck out ten hitters and only walked two while opponents hit only .130 against him. Offensively, Mitchell was 6-11 (.545 BA) with two doubles and two runs driven in. He walked four times and also scrored two runs. 

Tucker Arrington 1B / 3B / Thompson, AL / 2024

Arrington, an uncommitted junior, continues to swing the bat well for the 7A No. 1 Warriors as he was 5-6 (.833 BA) this week while also drawing three walks. He collected three doubles and was hit-by-pitch three times as well. He drove in four runs and also scored four runs while reaching base at an .846 clip. 

Dominic Maldet C / Gulf Shores, AL / 2023

The University of Montevallo signee was 7-10 (.700 BA) this week for the 5A No. 6 Dolphins. He had four doubles while driving in five runs. He was hit-by-pitch once and walked twice as he had a .769 OBP. 

Andrew Lawrence SS / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2023

The East Tennessee State signee continues to produce for the 7A No. 9 Jets. This week he was 4-7 (.571 BA) with a double and a triple. He drove in three runs and also scored two runs as well. Lawrence was hit-by-pitch three times and also walked twice. 

Francisco Ramirez SS / 2B / James Clemens, AL / 2024

Ramirez, an uncommitted junior, was 5-9 (.556 BA) this week with three runs driven in and four runs scored. He walked twice and also had five stolen bases. 

Colten Payton C / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2023

The Wallace-Hanceville signee continues to give the Jets solid work defensively behind the plate as he also hit .500 (4-8) for the week with a double. He drove in two runs and also walked three times. 

Carson Loosier OF / James Clemens, AL / 2024

Loosier, an uncommitted junior, was 3-7 (.429 BA) this week with two runs driven while scoring five runs as well. He walked once and was hit-by-pitch twice. The speedy outfielder also had three stolen bases. 

Kareem Keye / Minor, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior shortstop was 14-21 (.667 BA) during the week with a home run and three walks. He drove in nine runs and also scored 16 runs. Keye also had 15 stolen bases during the week. 

Tylan Amerson SS / Minor, AL / 2023

Amerson finds his name on the list again after another huge week with the bat. The senior was 11-20 (.550 BA) with a home run and seven runs driven in. He scored 16 runs to go along with 18 stolen bases as he also walked three times as well. 

Ethan Bucher SS / RHP / Minor, AL / 2025

Bucher, a sophomore, was 14-22 (.636 BA) this week with a home run and 17 runs driven in. He also walked three times and stole ten bases while scoring 17 runs as well. 

Jack Elliott SS / 2B / Athens , AL / 2024

The uncommitted junior hit .500 (6-12) for the week as he continues to provide solid defensive work in the middle of the infield for the playoff-bound Golden Eagles. Elliott had two doubles and seven stolen bases. 

Colin Patterson RHP / 1B / West Limestone , AL / 2023

The UAB signee appears on the list again this week as he had a solid week in a two-way role for the Wildcats. On the. mound, he got a complete game win (5 IP) while not allowing a hit or a run. He walked three hitters and struck out seven. With the bat he was 4-4 with a double and two runs scored. He also drove in three runs in the win. 

Braxton Griffin 3B / OF / West Limestone, AL / 2024

Griffin was 4-6 (.667 BA) for the playoff bound Wildcats with two doubles and a triple. He also scored four runs and drove in six runs. On the mound he tossed seven innings (1-0) and only allowed three hits while walking two. He allowed one earned run and struck out nine. 

Gregory French 1B / Scottsboro, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior was 7-10 (.700 BA) with a double and and two home runs for the playoff bound Wildcats. He also walked twice while also driving in ten runs over the last week. 

Bryson Goff LHP / 1B / Saraland , AL / 2023

The East Central CC signee turned in his second consecutive 1-hitter for the 6A No. 4 Spartans, getting a complete game (5 IP) win. He did not allow a run or did not walk a batter during the outing. He has 11 strikeouts. 

Evan Hilliard 3B / RHP / Saraland, AL / 2024

Hilliard, an uncommitted junior, was 1-0 this week as he got a complete game win for the Spartans. He tossed seven innings and allowed only one earned run. He scattered five hits and walked one, while striking out nine hitters. 

Brody McCain RHP / OF / Arab , AL / 2023

McCain, a Northwest-Shoals CC signee, went 1-0 for the 5A No. 3 Knights as they preare for the first round of the state playoffs. He tossed seven innings of four-hit baseball and did not allow a run. He walked only one and struck out 12 opposing hitters.  

Ray Anderson LHP / 1B / Lindsay Lane Christian , AL / 2023

Another Northwest-Shoals CC signee, Anderson was his normal self this week as he went 1-0 in a 5-inning complete game win. He did not allow a hit or a run while striking out 11 hitters. He did not walk anyone during the outing. 

Benjamin Arn LHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2023

The uncommitted senior southpaw was 2-0 last week with both wins coming in area play for the 7A No. 4 Patriots, including a five inning complete game win. For the week, Arn tossed a total of nine innings and did not allow a run as opposing hitters only hit .097 against him. He allowed only three hits to go with ten strikeouts.  

Landon Alton RHP / Thompson, AL / 2023

The Marion Military Institute signee continues to give the 7A No. 1 Warriors quality innings on the mound. This week he was 1-0 (5.2 IP) in a big area win versus Tuscaloosa County as he did not allow a run. He only walked one hitter while striking out 11. 

Luke Davenport RHP / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2024

The junior Auburn commit finds his name on the list again as he. was 1-0 this week for the 7A No. 9 Jets. He worked five scoreless innings while only allowing three hits as opponents hit only .167 against him. He walked two and struck out 13 hitters. 

Chase Cartron LHP / 1B / Huntsville, AL / 2024

The Troy commit picked up a big win for the Panthers this week in their area series with Sparkman. The left hander went 6.1 innings on the mound (1-0) and did not allow a run while scattering two hits. He walked three and struck out 12 hitters. 

Sean Bucher RHP / Minor, AL / 2028

The 7th grader turned in a complete game (4 IP) no-hitter for the Tigers as he did not allow a run either. He walked one while striking out eight hitters in a victory over Mae Jemison.   

Elijah Fuller RHP / Minor, AL / 2026

Fuller, a freshman, turned in a complete game (5 IP) no-hitter as he did not allow a run while not walking a hitter as well. He struck out five hitters in the Tigers win over Woodlawn. 

Miles Edwards RHP / Lauderdale County, AL / 2024

For the week, the uncommitted junior was 2-0 with a total of 9.1 innings pitched. He allowed only four hits while walking four as well. He had nine strikeouts in an important area win over Elkmont. 

Drew Jolley SS / RHP / Prattville, AL / 2023

The Chattahoochee Valley CC signee turned in a complete game no-hitter as he went seven innings in a 1-0 win over Enterprise. He did not allow a run while walking only one hitter. Jolley struck out nine hitters as well. 

Andrew Hicks RHP / OF / Prattville, AL / 2024

Hicks, an uncommitted junior, was instrumental in Prattville's area series win over Enterprise as he turned in a complete game (7 IP) three-hitter in a 1-0 victory. Hicks walked one hitter and struck out three in the win.
