OUTLOOK:

The Golden Bears return 6 starters that played in the field and 5 guys that logged innings on the mound from an area runner up team in 2018.  They will compete in 3A Area 16 against Lauderdale County (state runner up in 2018) and Clements. The Golden Bears expect to pitch and defend well and Coach Cole Mitchell will be looking for some guys to lead the way offensively. 2019 LHP/OF Tyler Cruse (signed with Lawson State) should definitely be one of the guys to lead the way in 2019. The 6’3 185 lb. senior will be counted on on the mound and in the OF. He should also be a major run producer from the left hand side of the plate. Three other seniors will be heavily counted on as well. Dusty King is a physical 3B that really generates juice some juice at the plate and is solid with the glove at the hot corner. Daniel Thaxton (2019 RHP/OF) is another arm that should pitch some big innings this year showing a low to mid 80’s fastball. He will also be a regular in the OF and shows a nice approach at the plate. Garret Hill is a senior MIF that can really defend with nice range and should serve as a “table setter” left handed hitter for the offense. 2020 OF Holden Newton can really track balls in the outfield and is a contact guy at the plate that just finds a way to get on base. The Golden Tigers will welcome back 2021 RHP/1B Ethan Corum after missing the 2018 season with an injury. He is a true two way guy with a live arm on the mound and will also be a factor at 1B. Experience should be a key for the Golden Tigers as they hope this leads to a lot of success on the field in 2019.
