OUTLOOK:

The Bulldogs are looking forward to the 2019 season with a lot of experienced players returning to compete in 4A Area 13 alongside Danville, West Morgan and St. John Paul II. Coach Preston Potter’s club returns 7 positional starters and 5 pitchers from last year’s squad. The Bulldogs will still be a relatively young team and are looking for a true ace on the pitching staff. One guy that will be counted on heavily is senior Rhett Lemay, an IF/RHP. He has a ton of experience and is a leader on the team, to go along with some nice pop at the plate. He had 3 HR’s in 2018 and will be counted on on the mound with his fastball in the low 80’s. RHP Nick Walker is another senior that the Bulldogs are counting on on the mound. He creates some real nice movement on his fastball from a sidearm slot at 78-80 mph. 2020 OF Johnnie Keahey can really run and track balls down in the OF, to go along with nice arm strength. He is a stolen base threat and has some sneaky pop at the plate. Several sophomores will also be counted on in a big way in 2019. Drew Gates is a 2021 C that shows some toughness for the position and has solid catch and throw skills. He has also has some pop at the plate. 2021 3B/RHP Dylan Johnston is another sophomore expected to play a big role this season. The Bulldogs will count on him to be an RBI producer with his sweet swing from the left side. He will also be a key ingredient on the mound as he is described as a “bulldog on the mound”. Mason Mann is yet another 2021 grad that should play a key role this season. The 1B/RHP returns in 2019 after missing the 2018 season due to injury. He will provide another left handed bat in the lineup and creates deception on the mound with a different arm slot. 2021 Cole Smith (IF/RHP) has smooth hands and nice feet on the IF and shows a nice breaking ball to go along with a fastball that shows some arm side run. He should also be a threat offensively with his line drive approach. Look for the Bulldogs to be improved from last year and in the running for a playoff spot.
