OUTLOOK:

The Wildcats enter the 2019 with a lot of excitement and believe a lot of progress has been made in the offseason as they have their sights set on an area championship. That will not be an easy task as they will be competing in 5A Area 14 against Guntersville, Arab and Brewer. Coach Blake Talley enters his first season as head coach at the school and will depend on several veterans to lead the way in 2019. Christian Herberholz (2019, RHP/OF) will lead the way on the mound for the Wildcats. The Tennessee Tech signee has an upper 80’s fastball with big time command. Herberholz will also play OF as well. 2019 SS/RHP Reed Latimer is University of Montevallo signee with big time bat speed and can really run. Latimer has nice defensive actions at SS and will use his mid 80’s fastball on the mound as well. Riley Bennett is a 2019 grad that will be counted on to play the infield and on the mound with his mid 80’s fastball. Peyton Grant (2019 C) brings a toughness to the team behind the plate and will be expected to hit for power this season. Gray Dixson is another 2019 grad (RHP/OF) with plus speed and a fastball around 80 mph. Brody Hyde, Lane Pitts, Tallen Williams and Tanner Barclay are all juniors that look to contribute on the mound and on the infield for the Wildcats. The sophomore class features three players that the Wildcats look to assume roles for the 2019 season. AJ Crocker (RHP/IF) has the makings to be a future head of the rotation guy on the mound, Ethan Wininger (C) shows some pop at the plate and Camden Matthews (1B/RHP) shows a nice offensive attack with power to all fields. Two members of the 2022 class may also be called on to help in 2019. Everett Loveless (RHP/IF) has long, loose arm action as a pitcher and Landon Grider (LHP/IF/OF) is a strong, physical player with a high ceiling. Look for the Wildcats to be in the middle of the 5A Area 14 area race.
