OUTLOOK:

The Sparkman Senators are eager to get started in 2019 where they will move to 7A Area 7 to compete against Grissom, Huntsville and Gadsden City. Coach Jason Brewer likes the progress his team has made since last season as they return 5 positional starters and 2 pitchers that saw time on the mound last season. One key area of importance in 2019 will be to develop some depth on the mound. 2019 RHP Dakota Reasner will be one of the arms the Senators will depend on heavily this season as he is an extremely hard worker and has a fastball in the mid to upper 80’s and a plus changeup to match. Junior Austin Latham is a guy that has really made progress on the mound with a fastball in the low 80’s and is developing his secondary stuff. There are a couple of other arms the Senators will count on, and these pitchers will also be counted on as two way guys. 2020 Ryan Colbert (C/RHP) is a solid framed athlete that shows an athletic delivery on the mound and is a solid, consistent backstop behind the plate. Another 2020 grad, OF/RHP Brendan Vatz, is a versatile player that can help at a number of positions in the field and does a nice job of pounding the zone on the mound. A few 2021 grads will also look to help the Senators in a two way role. Sophomore Tristan Everly is a RHP/SS that has a strong arm and some juice at the plate. Kylan Duncan (2021, 2B/RHP) has gained some strength in the offseason which has translated to more velocity on the mound and he also has a solid middle of the field approach at the plate. Sophomore AJ Causey (C/RHP) has some major pop at the plate and moves well behind the plate. On the mound, he is low to mid 80’s from a 3/4 arm slot. The Senators will depend on several guys to help carry the load at the plate. 2019 OF BJ Bradham has had a productive offseason and is a very solid player with a nice skill set in the field and at the plate. 2020 IF Collin Strope returns in 2019 after a a nice offensive season in 2018 and should be a serious offensive threat for the Senators. 2020 1B Cole Strachan is a physically strong player that has big time juice off of the barrel and really shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields. 2019 OF Nathan Gunn is a senior the Senators will depend on that has a hard nosed approach to the game and 2021 1B/3B Mikel Pryor is a physical player that shows nice athleticism and has major pop off of the barrel. The Senators have put in the work in the offseason and plan on seeing big time results in 2019.
