Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.

Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

+ RHP Sam Mitchell (Bob Jones, 2023) earned a pair of wins during the week after working just an inning against Grissom on Tuesday and then delivering a quality outing against Buford, a powerhouse 7A program in the state of Georgia. Working in a tune-up for his start later in the week, the Alabama signee struck out the side in his lone inning against Grissom, then proceeded to toss 5.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, and 15 K's and Buford later in the week. On the week, Mitchell combined to go 2-0 with 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, and 18 K.
