Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.

Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

+ C/RHP Luke Songy (St. John Paul II, 2024) made his impact on both sides of the ball putting up some video game numbers both at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, the junior went 10-for-11, equalling a .909 batting average, to go along with seven runs scored, ten runs driven in, and mixed in a walk on the week. On the mound, he tossed a complete-game win against Lauderdale County going seven innings and allowing just two hits, an earned run, yielded no walks, and punched out 11 hitters in the process.
