November 3 Central Alabama Fall Invite: Quick Hits

Sunday was a picture perfect day in Montgomery as players from across the state converged on Faulkner University for a morning pro style workout followed by game play. There were players present from the 2020, 2021 and 2022 classes in Alabama and they did not disappoint. Over the next few days we will take a more in depth look at each player present but today we take a look at just a few of the standouts from the day.

Ryan Revera (2022, C/OF, Bob Jones) Showed a very nice understanding of the game and nice athleticism behind the plate with accurate throws to 2B as low as 1.96. Handles the barrel well and had 2 hits in game play as well.

Tucker Burns (2022, SS/2B, Sparkman) Young player that shows big time actions at SS with solid glove work and nice lateral range. Burns also collected 3 hits in game play, including a 2B and 2 RBI’s.

Kahlin Drake (2020, 2B/SS, Hewitt Trussville) Athletic player that is listed as a SS/2B but looks equally comfortable in the OF as well. Also showed nice range on a play to his glove side at 3B. Showed some athletic hands at the plate with a middle of the field approach during BP. Had a 3B to RCF during game play as well. An intriguing ‘20 grad.

McCollum Mansfield (2022, RHP/3B, Oak Mountain) Another ‘22 that performed well at the event. Really showed some competitiveness on the mound as he had 2 K’s in his inning of work, stranding a runner at 3B with no outs. Collected a 1B at the plate as well.

Wyatt Miskelly (2020, C/RHP, Shelby County) Miskelly was impressive behind the plate as he showed pop times in the low 2.0’s with accurate throws to the bag. Was more impressive on the mound with a FB up to 83 mph and just pounded the lower half of the zone, striking out 2 hitters during his inning of work. Works very quick on the mound and attacks the zone. ‘20 RHP that is worth a follow.

Caleb Campbell (2022, C/3B, Brooks) Young catching prospect that showed very well behind the plate. During the morning workout he showed nice catch and throw skills and that carried over into the game as he threw out 2 runners attempting to steal a base. Also collected a 1B in game play.

Hunter Anderson (2020, RHP/SS, Chelsea) Coming off an injury that forced him to miss his junior high school season, Anderson had a very solid day at the event. The glove and arm work at SS and he showed solid barrel control at the plate but on the mound is where he really stood out. The FB was up to 84 mph with some cut and his breaking ball resulted in several swing and misses. Did a nice job forcing soft contact and located the FB to the glove side very well.

Brennen Norton (2021, 3B/2B, Cullman) A ‘21 that should start garnering a ton of attention. The skill set immediately jumps out as he ran an 6.98 60 yard dash, was 87 mph across the IF and was 97 mph off a tee. The BP was the loudest of the day as he again showed major juice from a primarily pull side approach. Had a 1B in game play and a stolen base.

Alex Gauld (2020, SS/2B, Mountain Brook) Another ‘20 grad that missed his junior season but looks to make an impact during the ‘20 season for the Spartans. Ran an event best 6.88 60 yard dash and defended well at SS/2B. Moves very well and the glove presentation is plus. Very natural actions and nice arm strength across the diamond. Makes everything look “natural” and showed nice hands at the plate and the ability to drive balls to all fields.

Tomorrow we will look at the players that stood out in the individual testing stations that took place during the morning workout.
