PBR Alabama Players of the Week: March 29-April 3

We continue to highlight various impressive performances across the state as the high school season has now reached April with numerous important area games on the slate for this week. Before we move ahead, let's take a look at some outstanding performances from last week. Congratulations to the players below that have earned "PBR Alabama Players of the Week" for March 29-April 3. Thanks to the high school coaches that nominated players for this past week. This week we have 6 positional players, 4 pitcher only's and 8 two way players on the list. 

 

PBR ALABAMA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 

Positional Players:

+ Brody Capps (2022, INF, Central Phenix City) Capps has continued to produce consistently for the Red Devils and this week was no different. The junior infielder hit .445 for the week with 2 2B and 6 RBI. 

+ Zach Harries (2021, INF, Athens) Harries was 12-21 on the week that included 4 2B while also drawing 4 walks. He scored 6 runs, drove in 4 more runs and and had a stolen base as well. 

+ Alex Johnson (2021, C, Edgewood Academy) Johsnon made the most of 2 games this week as he was 5-7 with 2 HR, 1 3B and 2 2B. One of those HR's was a grand slam and the other was a 3-run walkoff. He drove in 8 runs and walked twice as well.  

+ Tait Nunnally (2023, OF, Pell City) The sophomore produced at a high level this week while going 6-14 with 1 2B, 1 3B and 1 HR (which was a grand slam). Nunnally drove in 6 runs, scored 4 more runs and had 2 stolen bases. 

+ Colton Pahman (2022, 1B, Faith Christian) It's hard to top what Pahman did this week as he went 8-10 with 1 HR (a grand slam) and 13 RBI (all in 1 week). He also added 1 2B, 6 stolen bases and scored 5 runs. 

+ William Penley (2021, 1B, Decatur) Penley led the Red Raiders offense at the Gulf Coast Classic III as he was 8-15 on the week. The senior first baseman had 3 2B, 1 3B and 1 HR while driving in 7 runs. He also walked twice during the week. 

 

Pitcher Only:

+ Drew Cashin (2022 RHP, New Brockton) Cashin finds his name on the list again as he delivered an impressive start on the mound yet again. In a complete game area win (6-1), Cashin went 7 innings and struck out 17 and only issued 2 BB. He gave up 1 hit and did not allow a run. 

+ Brock Hill (2021, RHP, Chelsea) The University of South Alabama signee continues an impressive run of quality outings. This week he pitched a complete game (7 IP) and got the win in an important area game. He allowed 3 hits and did not allow an earned run while striking out 10 hitters. In his last 3 starts, Hill is 3-0 with 22 K while only allowing 1 earned run over 17 innings. 

+ Trey Mooney (2021, RHP, Oxford) Mooney delivered a gem for the Yellow Jackets as he gained a complete game (7 IP) win while only allowing 4 hits versus Springville. He struck out 9 hitters, did not walk a batter and only allowed 1 earned run. 

+ Austin Nix (2022, RHP, Gulf Shores) Nix got the win versus 7A Enterprise as he went 6 innings on the mound with 6 strikeouts. He only allowed 3 hits, did not walk anyone and did not give up a run. 

 

Two-Way Players:

+ Dee Bonner (2021, RHP/SS, Lee-Montgomery) The senior continues to lead the way in a two way role for the Generals. This week he was 5-6 at the plate with 2 2B and 1 HR (grand slam). He drove in 6 runs, scored 7 runs and was a perfect 6-6 on stolen bases. On the mound, Bonner threw a no hitter as the game was stopped early due to run rule. He went 3 innings on the mound with 7 K and 2 BB. 

+ Konnor Braswell (2021, RHP/3B, Ohatchee) Braswell was 6-10 on the week with the bat that included 1 2B. The senior also went 6 innings on the mound, allowing 5 hits with 3 K in an area victory over Piedmont. He only allowed 1 run versus the formidable Bulldog lineup. 

+ AJ Causey (2021, RHP/DH, Sparkman) The Jacksonville State University signee had yet another stellar week for the surging Senators. Offensively, he was 7-15 with 1 2B, 1 3B and 2 HR while driving in 10 runs. On the mound, Causey tossed 3 perfect innings as he struck out 8 hitters and did not allow a hit or run and didn't walk anyone. 

+ Cole Cheatham (2021, LHP/OF, Ardmore) Cheatham delivered in a big way for the Tigers this week. On the mound, he tossed a 7 inning complete game gem as he struck out 17 hitters, allowed 1 hit and did not allow an earned run. With the bat, the MIssissippi State University signee was 3-8 with 1 HR and 2 RBI. He also scored 3 runs. 

+ Ethan Hamm (2022, LHP/OF, Lauderdale County) The junior southpaw picked up a complete game win by tossing 7 innings with 14 K while only allowing 1 earned run. He scattered 5 hits and did not walk a hitter. With the bat, Hamm was 3-6 with 1 HR, 2 2B and 3 RBI. He also scored 6 runs. 

+ Eli Jackson (2022, LHP/OF, Hamilton) Jackson continues to impress as he gained a complete game (7 IP) win this week with 12 K and only allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run. Jackson also had a huge leadoff 3B in the 7th inning and eventually scored the go ahead run in a win versus Haleyville. 

+ Bryant Loving (2022, RHP/INF, Hamilton) Loving also came up big for Hamilton this week as well. He earned a complete game win (5 IP) while striking out 14 hitters and not walking anyone. He only allowed 1 run in the outing. Offensively, he was also 3-4 with 2 2B and 3 runs scored in a win over Marion County. 

+ Mason Mann (2021, 1B/RHP, Priceville) Mann appears on the list again as he had another outstanding week with the bat as he was 9-15 on the week, including 3 multi-hit games. He drove in 4 runs and also scored 4 runs. Getting his first start of the season on the mound, Mann promptly went 7 innings, getting a complete game win while scattering 4 hits and giving up 2 earned runs. The Wallace-Hanceville signee struck out 7 in his first start.
