Top Prospect Games: Infielders


PBR Alabama Staff

The Alabama Top Prospect Games were held on Wednesday, June 23rd at Choccolocco Park in Oxford. Players were put through a positional workout in the morning and then each player played in one of the three games that followed in the afternoon. Today, we wrap up our look at each player in attendance as we we look at the infielders from Wedneday's event.  

Thanks to all of the players, parents, our PBR staff and the Choccolocco Park staff for an incredible event. Here are the 38 infielders from the event.  

 

inFIELDERS

Brodee Bartlett, SS/2B, (2023) Cold Springs

6-foot, 167-pound. Above average in the box, Bartlett had a max exit velocity of 91 mph. Began in a tall athletic stance with a compact load, then used a leg kick. Had an upward swing plane and some bat speed. Barreled up multiple balls during his round. Pull side approach. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 81 mph; shows sure hands, and athletic feet. Uses his glove out front. From a high ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a quick arm action. Clocked a time of 7.22 in the 60-yard dash. 

Mason Billions, 1B, (2022) Ardmore

5-foot-11, 195-pound. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 77 mph. Had a balanced stance. Bat speed was efficient, and had a flat swing plane. He found multiple barrels during his rounds. Pull side approach. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 74 mph; has average footwork, and a clean exchange. Had a high ¾ slot and decent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 8.11. 

Braden Booth, 3B/RHP, (2024) Bob Jones

6-foot-1, 170-pound. Projectable at the plate, Booth had an exit velocity of 87 mph. Started in a balanced tall stance and used a quick stride. Bat speed was efficient, and displayed an upward swing plane. He showed some loud contact during his round. Gap to gap approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 81 mph; has rhythmic feet, and consistent hands. Used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.63. Very athletic arm on the mound with easy actions. The breaking ball (74-75 mph) showed a little more slider action with tight spin and the changeup (77-78 mph) plays well off the fastball and he had no issues throwing it for a strike. The fastball was 83-85 mph and topped out at 87 mph with some late sink to it. 

Jacob Burleson, 1B/RHP, (2022) Cedar Bluff

6-foot-2, 198-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 92 mph. Had a quick load then a small leg kick. Has a simple swing plane and has a front foot finish. He found some barrels through his rounds. Pull side approach. While in the infield, made throws up to 74 mph; had soft hands, a clean exchange, and average footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bag and a quick arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.54 at the event. 

Tucker Burns, SS/2B, (2022) Sparkman

6-foot-1, 170-pound. Above average at the plate, Burns had a max exit velocity of 91 mph. Had an athletic stance. Bat speed was above average, and showed a loose swing plane. Found multiple barrels during his rounds. Gap to gap approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph; has next level hands, smooth feet, and a clean exchange. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.39. 

Cade Carr, C/SS, (2023) Hoover

5-foot-10, 165-pound solid frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 92 mph. Sets up in a balanced stance and used a quick stride. Bat speed was above average, and showed a flat swing plane. Was able to create some loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, shows twitchy hands, and athletic feet. Laterally, his movements were quick. Showed consistent accuracy. 

Eli Davenport, 2B/SS, (2022) Ranburne

5-foot-11, 155-pound. At the plate, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 93 mph. Setup includes an open tall stance and a controlled stride. Level swing plane. He barreled up lots of balls throughout the round. Opposite field approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 74 mph; showed rhythmic feet, and sure hands. Showed a quick arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.43. 

Carson Foote, 2B/SS, (2022) Thompson

5-foot-10, 165-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 89 mph. Started in an open stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed is average, exhibits an uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced some loud contact. Pull side approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 74 mph; has average footwork, and a clean exchange. Uses his glove out front. Showed decent accuracy. Recorded a 60 time of 7.72 at the event. 

Carter Foote, 3B/1B, (2022) Thompson

5-foot-10, 175-pound solid frame. In the box, Foote had an exit velocity of 93 mph. Started in an open stance then used a toe tap. Bat speed is above average, displays an an inside-out swing plane and a front foot finish. He barreled up multiple balls during the round. Opposite field approach. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 79 mph; has consistent hands, and a natural exchange. Had consistent accuracy to the bag and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.6 in the 60-yard dash.

Dylan Gordon, SS/2B, (2022) Hoover

6-foot, 170-pound. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 92 mph. Began in a wide stance with a quick load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is explosive, has an upward swing plane and a front foot finish. Through the round he found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 76 mph; has quick feet, and twitchy hands. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Showed consistent accuracy. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.85. 

Austin Greene, 3B/RHP, (2022) Pell City

5-foot-9, 162-pound. During batting practice, Greene's best exit velocity was 90 mph. Uses a quick stride. Bat speed was quick, and displayed a short swing plane. Barreled up lots of balls during his round. Line drive approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 73 mph; showed consistent footwork. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Showed decent accuracy. Clocked a time of 7.76 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, he showed a mid 3/4 slot and pounded the zone with the 11/5 breaking ball (64-66 mph) that he threw in any count. Did a solid job spotting the fastball to any quadrant at 74- 75 mph. 

Jackson Harris, 1B/LHP, (2023) Vestavia Hills

5-foot-10, 145-pound. At the plate, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 89 mph. Setup was comprised of a balanced crouched stance and a toe tap. Had efficient bat speed and a loose flat swing plane. Found lots of barrels through his rounds. Line drive approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 76 mph; has sure hands, athletic feet, and a quick exchange. Showed a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.17. On the mound, he showed a very nice mix with all 3 pitches, featuring a curveball (69-73 mph) with tight spin and a changeup (70-72 mph) that tunneled well with the fastball.. The clean arm action also produced a fastball at 77-78 mph and, T79 mph with very nice arm side action to the pitch.  

Andrew Hunt, 3B/2B, (2022) Oak Mountain 

5-foot-11, 190-pound solid frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 94 mph. Sets up in a wide balanced stance with a controlled load. Bat speed is above average, exhibits an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He created loud contact during the round. Pull side approach. Above average while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 81 mph; has consistent hands. Had a compact arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.43 at the event.

Luke Hyche, RHP/3B, (2022) Briarwood Christian

6-foot-1, 200-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. Began in a balanced wide stance with a quick load, then used a short stride. Had a level swing plane, and his bat speed was some. Found some barrels during his rounds. Line drive approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 81 mph; had a quick exchange, and average footwork. Uses his glove out front. Had some accuracy to the base and a ¾ slot. Recorded a time of 8.09 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, Hyche showed a 3/4 arm slot and late cut on the fastball (83-84 mph). He was also able to elevate the fastball which set up the breaking ball (67-68 mph) well because of the late depth it showed. Showed some "feel" with the changeup (74-75 mph) and was able to command the pitch very well.  

Seth Johnson, OF/2B, (2023) Alexandria

5-foot-10, 135-pound athletic frame. In the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Had a controlled load then a leg kick. Has developing bat speed and simple swing plane. Through the round he found some barrels. Base hit approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 72 mph; has a quick exchange, and athletic footwork. Had decent accuracy to the base with a short arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.53.

Christopher Johnston, 3B/SS, (2023) Vestavia Hills

6-foot-1, 195-pound athletic physical frame. During batting practice, Johnston displayed an exit velocity of 102 mph, Best EV of the day. Started in a crouched open stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed is above average, shows an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He created loud contact and found lots of barrels. Pull side approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 84 mph; has a natural exchange, and quick footwork. Had a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.95. On the mound, Johnston showed nice command of the breaking ball (71-72 mph) from a very clean delivery. The changeup (70-71 mph) is also a soid secondary offereing that compliments the fastball very well.. The fastball (81-82 mph, T83 mph) was a pitch that he showed solid command to both sides of the plate with. Looks easy on the mound.  

Noah Jones, SS/2B, (2022) Wetumpka

5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame. Advanced at the plate, Jones clocked an exit velocity of 92 mph. Started in a tall athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick. Had above average bat speed. Found lots of barrels with some loud contact . Gap to gap approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 78 mph; shows next level hands, and smooth athletic feet. Showed a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.23 at the event. 

Grayson Kellett, 1B/3B, (2022) Glencoe

6-foot, 205-pound physical frame. Solid at the plate, Kellett was ranked 2nd with an exit velocity of 100 mph.Began in an open active stance with a controlled load, then used a big leg kick. Bat speed is explosive, uses an uphill swing plane and a front foot finish. Showed a lot of loud contact during the round. Pull side approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 74 mph; had a natural exchange, and developing footwork. Had decent accuracy to the bag with an-over-the-top slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.27 at the event. 

Maddox Macrory, RHP/1B, (2022) Oak Mountain

6-foot-2, 155-pound. Above average in the box, Macrory clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. Setup consists of an open tall stance and a controlled load. Bat speed is efficient and shows a simple swing plane. Found multiple barrels in his round. Line drive approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 80 mph; had sure hands, and consistent footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bag with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.12. Macrory showed nice tempo on the mound with a firm breaking ball (68-71 mph) that he was able to get several swing and misses on. The fastball (84-86 mph) showed nice downward tilt as he showed the ability to locate the pitch down in the zone.  

Ashton McClendon, 3B/RHP, (2023) Sumiton Christian

6-foot-2, 190-pound. In the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a quick load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is average and exhibits a simple swing plane. Found multiple barrels through his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 77 mph; showed choppy footwork. Uses his glove deep. Had decent accuracy to the bag and an-over-the-top slot. Clocked a time of 7.5 in the 60-yard dash. Physical presence on the mound, McClendon showed an over-the-top arm slot and a true 12/6 curveball (65-68 mph) that he located well to the glove side. The fastball (78-80 mph, T81 mph) tumbled well to the bottom half of the zone as he created nice downward tilt from his OTT arm slot.  

Miles Mitchell, SS/2B, (2023) Helena 

5-foot-11, 175-pound. Above average at the plate, Mitchell recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was above average, and showed an upward swing plane. Gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 80 mph; showed rhythmic feet, and consistent hands. Showed a short arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.83 at the event. 

Brodie Morrow, 1B/3B, (2022) Hartselle

6-foot, 235-pound sturdy frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 90 mph. Began in an open wide stance with a quick load, then used a toe tap. Bat speed was efficient, and showed an upward swing plane. Created some loud contact during his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 74 mph; has average feet, and soft hands. Had decent accuracy. 

Fisher Moss, SS/RHP, (2022) Bob Jones

6-foot-1, 185-pound. At the plate, Moss recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. Sets up in a balanced stance with a quick load. Bat speed was above average, showed an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Gap to gap approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 87 mph; shows consistent hands, and rhythmic feet. Had consistent accuracy. Clocked a time of 7.03 in the 60-yard dash. Really made an impression on the mound. The curveball (72-77 mph) took 11/5 shape with a bit of depth and decent sppin rates while the changeup (75-77 mph) showed late fade. The (87-88 mph) showed some arm side sink and exploded out of the hand with a ton of life. Very impressive from a mid 3/4 slot and simply pounded the zone.  

Jace Norton, SS/RHP, (2023) Auburn

6-foot-3, 165-pound projectable frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient and has a rotational swing plane. Found lots of barrels with some loud contacts. Line drive approach. Above average while in the infield, made throws up to 79 mph; had smooth footwork. Out front fielding mechanics. Decent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.93. Norton showed nice, easy actions on the mound. The breaking ball (76-77 mph) was a power breaking ball that he showed the same slot as he did with the fastball. The fastball showed life at 85-87 mph, T88 mph with sink. The makings of a 90 + arm in the near future.  

Colton Pahman, 1B/RHP, (2022) Faith Christian

6-foot, 225-pound physical frame. At the plate, Pahman recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Begins in a wide stance with a quick load, then uses a toe tap. Has average bat speed and uphill swing plane. Found some barrels in his rounds. Pull side approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 69 mph; has developing footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Had some accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 8.97 at the event. 

Collin Perkins, 2B/RHP, (2022) Scottsboro

5-foot-10, 155-pound athletic frame. In the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 91 mph. Setup was comprised of a quick load and a wide stance. Level swing plane. Found some barrels in his rounds. Up the middle approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 83 mph; had smooth footwork, and sure hands. Showed consistent accuracy. Clocked a time of 7.2 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, the breaking ball showed slider type action at 70-71 mph. The fastball was 80-81 mph, T82 mph with some sink to it.  

Micah Perkins, SS/RHP, (2022) Lindsay Lane Christian

5-foot-9, 145-pound. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 81 mph. Sets up in an active stance then used a controlled stride. Has average bat speed, uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Pull side approach. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 81 mph; had a natural exchange, and aggressive footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bag with a compact arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.11 at the event. On the mound, he showed a short, quick arm action from a mid 3/4 slot. The curveball (68-72 mph) showed 11/5 action with some late depth. The fastball (79-81 mph) showed late arm side action and he continued to pound the zone with both pitches.  

Paxton Ponder, SS/2B, (2023) Cullman

5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 93 mph. Setup consists of a balanced wide stance and a quick stride. Bat speed is efficient and exhibits a level swing plane. Found multiple barrels in his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 80 mph; had twitchy hands, and athletic smooth footwork. Movements laterally were athletic. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.8. 

Cade Prestegard, 3B/RHP, (2022) Huntsville

6-foot-3, 180-pound. In the box, Prestegard's best exit velocity was 92 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was quick, and showed an uphill swing plane. He barreled up some balls during his round. Gap to gap approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 76 mph; showed smooth feet, and soft hands. Had a high ¾ slot and decent accuracy to the bag. Clocked a time of 7.43 in the 60-yard dash. 

Sam Sandy, 1B/LHP, (2022) Athens

6-foot-1, 210-pound. In the box, Sandy's best exit velocity was 98 mph. Started in a tall stance with a quick load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was above average, and displayed an uphill swing plane. During his round he produced some loud contact. Pull side approach. While in the infield, made throws up to 71 mph; has soft hands, and rhythmic feet. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.91. 

Evan Smallwood, SS/RHP, (2023) Spain Park

5-foot-11, 170-pound. At the plate, Smallwood had a max exit velocity of 79 mph. Sets up in a tall open stance and had a quick stride. Bat speed was efficient, displayed an uphill swing plane and a front foot finish. Found lots of barrels through his rounds. Up the middle approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 77 mph; has soft hands, athletic feet, and a quick exchange. Had a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the bag. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.61.

Camden Smith, 3B/1B, (2022) Florence

6-foot-2, 185-pound. In the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. Begins in a wide stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Had a simple swing plane, and his bat speed was average. Barreled up a few balls throughout his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 79 mph; has rhythmic feet, and consistent hands. Had a ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.3. On the mound, Smith showed a low 3/4 slot and every pitch he throw had nice movement on it as he does a nice job pitching with deception. The curveball (70-71 mph) showed slider action and true late movement. The fastball was consistently 80-83 mph and he topped 84 mph with true 2-seam action on the pitch.

Bryce Speakman, 2B/OF, (2023) Opelika

5-foot-9, 160-pound. Confident in the box, Speakman clocked an exit velocity of 89 mph. Starts in an athletic active stance with a quick load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was efficient, and used an uphill swing plane. Barreled up multiple balls during his round. Line drive approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 75 mph; has a clean exchange, and athletic footwork. Glovework is shown out front Showed consistent accuracy. Recorded a time of 7.39 in the 60-yard dash.

Hunter Thompson, RHP/SS, (2022) Mortimer Jordan

6-foot, 165-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Starts in an athletic stance then uses a quick stride. Bat speed is above average and shows an uphill swing plane. Found some barrels in his rounds. Pull side approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 90 mph; showed rhythmic feet, and consistent hands. Had a very quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.17 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, the curveball (73-76 mph) showed very tight action and high spin rates while locating the pitch down in the zone. The fastball (86-88 mph) is a definite electric pitch for him that comes out of the hand very easy and shows late life vs hitters. 

Peyton Watts, SS/2B, (2023) Oxford

5-foot-11, 155-pound. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Setup is comprised of an athletic open stance and a small leg kick. Bat speed was electric, used an upward swing plane and a front foot finish. Had some loud contact and found lots of barrels. Gap to gap approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 87 mph; had sure hands, and fluid footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a very quick arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.13.

Eli Whitfield, 3B/OF, (2023) Evangel Christian

6-foot, 180-pound. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. Sets up in an open stance and used a quick stride. Bat speed was above average, and used an uphill swing plane. Found lots of barrels in his rounds. Gap to gap approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 79 mph; had average footwork, and consistent hands. Showed decent accuracy to the bag with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.24. On the mound, Whitfield showed a high 3/4 slot and utilized his strong lower half very well. The curveball (70-71 mph) showed 11/5 action with sharp, late action. The fastball was 82-83 mph and topped out at 84 mph with big time arm side run into RH Hitters. 

Cooper Williamson, SS/OF, (2022) Huntsville

5-foot-11, 155-pound. Above average at the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 93 mph. Setup includes a balanced tall stance and a short stride. Had average bat speed and a flat swing plane. Line drive approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 82 mph; had consistent hands, and athletic footwork. Showed decent accuracy to the bases. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.97.

Nick Wilson, 3B/C, (2022) Pell City

6-foot, 175-pound. In the box, Wilson recorded an exit velocity of 94 mph. Setup is comprised of a balanced open stance and a big leg kick. Has a rotational swing plane and above average bat speed. Was able to create some loud contact during his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 79 mph; had fluid footwork, and a clean exchange. Showed a compact arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.62
