OXFORD, AL - The Top Prospect Games (Upperclass) was held on Tuesday, June 21st at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2023-2024 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings facing hitters during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday. 

Today we continue our individual scouting reports on each player present as we take a look at the infielders from the event. 

William Peerson, Vestavia Hills (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 5-5, 150-pounds. Compact frame, some athleticism, proportional strength.
Hit: SH. Balanced, slightly crouched stance. Quick leg kick trigger. Uphill plane, short to contact, uses the whole field in approach.
Power: 82.3 max exit velocity, averaged 71.6 mph. 300’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 77 mph.  Short arm action, high 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Steady hands, quiet actions, plays with ease and body control.

Hugh Windle, Westbrook Christian (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Lean build with some length to frame, athletic body.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, square setup, short and quick load, gets down on time. Looseness to hands, mostly level path with hard line drives to all fields.
Power: 86.1 max exit velocity, averaged 77.1 mph. 280’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 81 mph.  Short arm action, natural high 3/4 with the ability to throw from multiple arm slots.

Kurt Kizer, Hewitt-Trussville (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/SS One of the best pure hitters in the state, regardless of class.
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Athletic body, some strength with room for more.
Hit: LHH. Square, slightly wider stance, short & quick load. Excellent feel for sweet spot, controls barrel, changes plane, uses whole field, pure hitter.
Power: 95.1 max exit velocity, averaged 85.9 mph. 339’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 79 mph.  Shorter arm action from a high 3/4 slot, quick arm.
Defense: Ranges well both left and right. Agile and athletic. Plays through the baseball.

Nicholas McCord, Oak Mountain (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Compact frame, athletic, continues to fill out with strength.
Hit: RHH. Square setup, weight stays on back hip, minimal load. Turns the barrel well, upward path, pull-side pop, finishes on back side.
Power: 88.8 max exit velocity, averaged 78.9 mph. 323’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 87 mph.  Long arm action from a high 3/4 slot. Nice arm strength. Also showed well throwing from different arm slots.
Defense: Quick lateral movements. Plays with body control on the move.

Easton Peed, Cullman (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-9, 165-pounds. Medium frame, some athleticism, proportional strength.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, balanced stance, rhythmic setup, quick load trigger. Quality separation, level path to contact, line drives to all fields.
