Underclass Games Scout Blog: Pitcher Only's

Today we continue to look at players from the June 23 Underclass Games that were held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford. There were seventeen pitchers that threw in one of the two games but only five of those were pitcher only's at the event. We will continue to roll out content from the event but today we take a look at those five Pitcher Only's. 

 

Jackson Crow: RHP/OF, (2023) Oxford, AL. 5-foot-11, 180-pound athletic frame. Projectable on the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle and above average arm speed. Showed easy effort in his delivery. Produced a fastball that came in at 78-79 mph and topped out at 80 mph; Had a 12/6 curveball (69-71) that showed swing and miss action and low in the zone command. Showed very consistent command and fading action on his changeup (72-73). Really worked downhill with the fastball. 

Jacob Page: RHP/3B, (2023) Glenwood, AL. 5-foot-10, 180-pound athletic frame. Smooth on the mound, had a consistent arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Showed easy effort in his delivery. Shows a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 75-76 mph with a max of 78 mph; had running action and very consistent command with heavy movement. His 12/6 curveball (62-63) showed command low in the zone and tight action. His changeup (69-70) shows tailing action and very consistent control. Does a nice job incorporating his lower half in the delivery, really like the progress of the breaking ball. 

Andy Purvis: RHP/1B, (2025) UMS-Wright, AL. 5-foot-10, 170-pound solid frame. Fluid on the mound, used a quick arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Shows some effort in his delivery. Sat with his fastball at 68-70 mph and topped out at 71 mph; had low in the zone command and late action. His changeup (62-64) showed fading action and very consistent control. Has control around the zone and sweeping action on his sharp curveball (62-63). Slider action the breaking ball and the fastball shows nice down action. 

Aydan Beard: RHP/2B, (2024) Hackleburg, AL. 5-foot-8, 130-pound proportional frame. Projectable on the mound, has a loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Showed easy effort in his delivery. Consistent balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 68-69 mph and topped out at 70 mph; shows very consistent control and tight action. Throws a 12/6 curveball with very consistent command. His changeup (68-69) shows gradual action and very consistent command. Showed impressive mound presence and pitched with a ton of confidence. Got ahead in almost every count and induced a lot of weak ground balls. Really attacked the zone. 

Kyler Campbell: LHP/1B, (2025) Madison Academy, AL. 5-foot-4, 115-pound. On the mound, showing good arm speed he used a ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Uses easy effort in his delivery. Threw his fastball 61-62 mph with a max of 63 mph; has sinking action and consistent command. Showed sweeping action and command around the zone on his curveball (58-59). His changeup (57-58) had arm side control and plus action. Really commanded the zone to both sides of the plate with very clean actions on the mound.
