Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 2 Pitcher of the Week

Bryant Diddell RHP / Mountain Brook, AL / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 45 / POS: 15 Bryant Diddell, one of the top uncommitted right-handed pitchers in Alabama’s 2026 class, delivered a statement performance in Week 2, dominating on the mound against Wesleyan Academy (NC), the No. 48-ranked team in Prep Baseball's National Top-50 Rankings. The right-hander tossed a complete-game gem, going seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits, striking out 11, and issuing only one walk. His overpowering stuff and command were on full display as he silenced one of the top lineups in the country. With this dominant outing, Diddell continues to establish himself as a premier arm in the 2026 class.
