Mizuno Player of the Week: Week 2 Edition
March 4, 2025
Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.
Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Alex Phillips OF / Smith Station, AL / 2025Rankings StateRank: 118 / POS: 23
Alex Phillips, one of Alabama’s top uncommitted prospects in the 2025 class, put on a show at the plate during Week 2, proving why he's a highly sought-after talent. The right-handed hitter went 7-for-15 (.467) with two doubles, four home runs, and seven RBI while crossing the plate six times. Phillips' power surge was especially impressive as he homered in four consecutive games, solidifying himself as a real source for run-production in the heart of the Panthers' order. With his elite combination of power and consistency, he continues to raise his stock as a premier prospect in the 2025 class. |
