Van Buren vs Maumelle

van buren record: 23-5 maumelle record: 17-12

Matchup:

Van Buren has been at the top of the power 25 and arguably the best team in 5A from beginning to end of season. After winning the state championship last season the Pointers look to defend their title but there is one big obstacle in game 1. Tag Andrews the presumed starter on the mound coming off a perfect game last week and will be a tough test in round 1. Van Buren is a deep team with lots of experience so look for this Round 1 matchup to have plenty of excitement!

Jonesboro vs Lake Hamilton

Jonesboro Record: 23-6-1 Lake Hamilton Record 15-8

MATCHUP:

This one on paper leans towards Jonesboro however Lake Hamilton has upset some of the bigger names in the 5A south including knocking off El Dorado a couple weeks ago. Young club that has a lot of firepower and could be a thorn in the Hurricanes side. The Hurricane look to get back to the state championship game with a flurry of older talent mixed with a nice crop of young hitters. This Jonesboro team is deep enough to make another title run.

Sylvan Hills vs Russellville

Sylvan Hills Record: 20-10 Russellville Record: 12-18

MATCHUP:

Sylvan Hills is the #1 seed from the central and has played like posting an 11-1 conference record. The Bears are poised at a title run as they have competed against some of the top teams in the state all season. Only issue is Russellville has gotten hot the last few weeks and has the arm power to be able to cause the Bears issues. The Cyclones record may not be as appealing however in their conference losses, they have shown you will have to beat them in a close game in order to be the victor.

El Dorado vs Batesville

El Dorado Record: 21-6 Batesville REcord: 19-7

MATCHUP:

This is firepower matchup. Austin Gage Wood would be the most likely candidate to start for Batesville and the Razorback commit leaves nothing but fire when he pitches. El Dorado though has some firepower of its own in the RHP Austin Jobe. This looks to be a a pitchers dual at its finest and whichever team wins will have earned it offensively.

Sheridan vs Greene County Tech

Sheridan REcord: 19-10 GCT Record: 17-8

MATCHUP:

Sheridan has had an up and down season per their normal however they have been riding a 6 game win streak coming into the state tournament which saw them takeover first place in the 5A south. Sheridan a perennial contender for a state title will be ready come Thursday. Greene County Tech comes out of the loaded 5A East which means they have seen some top end arms and have competed at the highest level of 5A. This one leans towards Sheridan however GCT offense can outburst at any time. This matchup will be one to watch as Greene County Tech won't be afraid when they matchup with Sheridan.

Little Rock Christian vs Mountain Home

LRCA REcord: 22-7 Mountain Home Record: 16-11-1

MATCHUP:

Little Rock Christian is deep not only on the mound but offensively. With a litany of arms and plenty of bats the Warriors have enough to make it to the state title game. The Bombers of Mountain Home have put together a solid season and have a balanced team that has battled some of the top teams in the tournament including #1 Seed Van Buren. The Warriors must be ready as the Bombers will be coming to ruin the possible state title run that LRCA is capable of making.

Marion vs White Hall

Marion Record: 25-5 White Hall Record: 14-10

MATCHUP:

Marion is one of the top teams in the 5A and has played like it all season. Having put up big wins in the 5A East having won 12 in a row, a loaded lineup with depth on the mound makes the Patriots a legit title contender. White Hall comes in with a record that can fool the average Joe but the Bulldogs have picked up some huge wins to get into the tournament and are riding a 5 game win streak. This will be a much closer game than record portrays and never sleep on White Hall as they may be one of the hottest teams in the tournament.

Greenrbier vs Benton

Greenbrier Record: 21-7 Benton: 21-8

MATCHUP:

This is a big time matchup that will see a legitimate title contender go home on day 1. Greenbrier who will ride the left arm of Jordan Huskey who has been dominate all season. Benton comes in having a great season and coming off a big win over Catholic the 6A title contender. This game will prove to be one of the biggest games in the opening round.
