Milligan Commits to Arkansas

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

2017 LHP Hunter Milligan flips commitment from Mississippi State to Arkansas.

Milligan recently competed in the Tournament of Stars hosted by USA Baseball. In the tournament Milligan worked 85-87 up to 88 mph, complimenting his fastball with a mid 70’s breaking ball. He flashed a change up 79 mph but did not use the change up often. His final line during the event was 5 innings pitched, 2 hits allowed, 1 run and 6 strike outs.

Arkansas recent hire of Wess Johnson as their pitching coach was a deciding factor for Milligan to commit to the Razorbacks. He began to waiver on his commitment when former Mississippi State pitching coach Butch Thompson departed to become the head coach at Auburn. Johnson was hired at Mississippi State to replace Thompson and was recently wooed to Arkansas by Coach Dave Van Horn this summer. Who had an opening due to the retirement of long time pitching coach Dave Jorn.

Milligan is the top left-handed pitcher in the state of Arkansas, and is ranked as the 21st left-handed pitcher in country.
