Natural State Games: Roster Preview Team White

Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The Natural State Games are this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be hosted at Lamar Porter Field in Little Rock, AR and Sunday will be at the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway. The Black team will play 5:00 PM on Saturday and will compete at 9:00 and 3:45 on Sunday. Let us take a look, the roster for Team White.

2018’s

A group of outfielder who all can run, and defend. It will be interesting to see who separates themselves as a strong offensive performer. All have had solid high school careers and have competed at a high level for the high schools and summer programs. If a school needs to fill a hole in their recruiting with an outfielder, they should check out team white and Avery Bramlett, Gabe Helsley, Jake Melton and Trey Harris

2019’s

The 2019’s on Team White are interesting they all have shown raw tools, in a small sample size, I want to see someone in this group make a jump to an elite player in the class. MIF/RHP Zane Cox from Dierks has the best track record, as an old school player which just plays better, the better the competition is. I want to get some measurables on Cox to see where he is at. Game play has been impressive. Another name to watch is C Devin James, a large framed prospect with raw bat speed and strength. If he has refined his game he may be another catcher in the 2019 class to move up the recruiting boards.

2020’s

This group of 2020’s will draw several scouts in with some high-end talent throughout. OF/RHP Luke Davenport, RHP/CIF Will Gross and RHP Rhett James are in my opinion the next wave of players to be recruited after the initial wave of early commitments in the class. All have advanced arm strength and have shown a feel to pitch. Similar Offensively with raw power, and average athleticism. Davenport, Gross and James, are good players the most intriguing of the group is Case Schuchardt a left-hander with a quick arm and an advanced feel for the breaking ball. I need to see him command the strike zone more efficiently but as a raw prospect a name to watch. C/OF Dakotah Peters is similar to Schuchardt, a raw athlete that has flashed above average tools, more information is needed for me to make a full assessment but he maybe a name that takes off; after this event.
