TOP NEWCOMERS AND RANKINGS MOVERS

Eli McCall 3B / RHP / Bentonville, AR / 2024

McCall enters the rankings for the first time in a big way checking in at number 21 on the list for the 2024 class.  The Bentonville HS product sees his stock rise after a strong performance at the Natural State Games earlier this fall showing off a physical presence in the box with strong bat speed and exit velocities up to 96 mph.  He does a good job of utilizing his strong lower half in the swing with a slight uphill approach.  Defensively the feet are active and he shows a feel for glove action.  At 6-foot and 190-pounds McCall should start to land on recruiting radars as a physical third basemen with some power potential.

JJ Spafford 2B / SS / Bentonville, AR / 2024

Spafford joins the rankings as the number 53 ranked player in the 2024 class for Arkansas and shows the projectability to keep climbing in the future.  The 6-foot and 165-pound infielder from Bentonville has an athletic rotational swing with the lower half working underneath the ball well to help matching plane allowing him to shoot line drives all over the yard.  Defensively he shows smooth lateral range and a feel for soft hands and glove action to go along with a quick release.

Braden Sprague C / 3B / Har-Ber, AR / 2024

The catcher from Har-Ber High sees himself in the rankings at number 60 overall in the 2024 class.  Sprague is another prospect that saw his stock rise at the Natural State Games earlier this fall showing pop times as low as 2.04 with a quick transfer out of the glove and accurate throws to the bag.  At the plate he shows strong barrel whip with some hand strength at contact generating exit velocities up to 90 mph.

Brooks Ward OF / SS / Catholic High School for Boys, AR / 2024

Brooks Ward sees a jump in his stock in the rankings landing at number 41 overall on the list.  There's a lot to like with the left-handed stroke with quick hands through the zone an uphill path with some hand strength.  He shows strong balance at the plate and shows consistent hard contact.  In the outfield he stays behind the ball well at release allowing the throws to have strong carry to the bag and accuracy to the target.  Ward also has one of the more projectable builds in the class at 6-foot-2 and 195-pounds and should be a potential power bat to keep an eye on.
