Q&A with Arkansas Commit Kacey Murphy

By Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

We recently had the opportunity to catch up  with Kacey Murphy and discussed his commitment to Arkansas. Kacey is a 6-0 180 pound LHP from Heritage High School, in Rogers. He had a great junior season dominating on the mound, striking out over 80 hitters in 56 innings.

PBR:Ultimately, why did you choose the University of Arkansas?

Because I've always idolized the U of A, mainly because I've lived in Northwest Arkansas my whole life and always been a dream of mine.

PBR: Where did they first see you compete?

I was first contacted after an outing in North Texas during a tournament with the Midwest Nationals

First seen: North Texas

PBR:  When did you take your first official visit to the U of A?

My first Official visit will be Sept. 20. I had an unofficial in late June/early July

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

At this point in time it's hard to tell exactly, but it's going to mainly depend on my work habits and dedication I put toward the team.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

I was contacted by Kansas State, Arkansas State and a couple Junior Colleges

PBR: Who did you play for this summer? Talk about your experience playing for them.

Midwest Nationals. Phenomenal experience and could not have asked for a better coaching staff. Dave Bingham was a crucial part of my summer in providing support and teaching me a whole new level of baseball that can be reached. Highly recommended.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player

Parents. They've always been my keystone during my career. Support, coaches, transportation, and financial aid. They've been it all to me and I owe them all the credit for getting me to where I am today.

PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?

K's: 85-  ERA: 2.46-  IP:54

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter you've faced in Arkansas?

And toughest hitter I have faced would be Grant Koch Fayetteville HS
