Quick Hits: Maximum Impact Scout Day

Brian Walker
Arkansas Scouting Director

Hers are some thoughts after the Maximum Impact scout day. Great energy and effort put forth by this group. Speed was at the forefront as we had three players sub 7. Projection and strength showed all over the facility as players showcased their skills. Here's an initial look at some players that had caught initial attention.

2020 Keith Merriweather, Bryant HS showed the speed and athleticism we have heard about running a 6.60 and showed an athletic body with twitch.

2020 Jacob Hale, CAC, physicality with speed makes for a dangerous combo as he ran a 6.69 and showed power offensively.

2020 Christian (CJ) Price, from Little Rock Central showed easy skill both offensively defensively and on the mound. Switch hitter with ease on both sides CJ is some strength away from being a breakout player in the ‘20 class.

2020 Eli Garrison, CAC, showed one of the best fastball of the day at 82 with 2020 Jackson Woodard, LRCA, right behind at 81.

Arkansas Commit, 2020 Ethan Bates, Lakeside, athletic body with bat speed at the plate along with pitch ability off the mound to go with his 84 mph FB.

2020 Luke Upton, Magnet Cove, showed the best power with a 91 mph exit velo to go along with the a 69 mph arm from behind the plate with carry.

2020 Zane Rainwater was the third sub 7 60 running a 6.9 showing athletic actions in the field with clean feet and clean transfer

2020 Trey McKim, Glen Rose, showed a physical frame with power.

William Parker (W.P.) Kerfoot, LRCA, showed big power and a physical frame to go with it.

2020 Braden Knight, Bryant, had advanced pitch ability featuring 4 pitches for a strike.

We are still breaking down all players as many others will be highlighted in the days to come with positional analysis.
