On Saturday, January 18th, the Prep Baseball Arkansas team hosted the annual Central Arkansas Preseason ID at Fieldhouse Sports in Conway, AR. This event was open for all high school classes (2025-28), and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

Shortly after the event, our staff compiled several of the day’s stat leaders inside our traditional ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE

Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts below within these ‘Quick Hits’.

Thomas George SS / RHP / North Little Rock, AR / 2027

George emerged from Sunday's event as undoubtedly the biggest winner on the day on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound sophomore got the day started with one of the loudest rounds of BP on the day using a quick, connected swing to consistently spray barrels all over the field. He squared up his best ball at an event leading 97.3 mph, while averaging 89.3 mph per batted ball - also tops at the event. On the infield he showed advanced arm strength, firing a 90 mph bullet to go along with reliable hands and clean fielding actions. That arm strength carried over to the mound where George ran his fastball up to 87 mph, sitting 84-86 mph while showing the feel to command a changeup/slider mix at 79-82 mph and 78-81 mph respectively. George continues to improve with every look and will be a name to keep an eye on in the 2027 class.

Luke Edwards 3B / 1B / Pulaski Academy, AR / 2027

Another sophomore standout from this look, Luke Edwards is as physical and as strong as they come in a 6-foot-4, 218-pound frame. That strength was evident at the plate in this look where the lefty used a quick, level swing to consistently work back through the middle of the field, posting the peak exit velocity on the day with 96.9 mph mark. Edwards has the look to be a potential middle of the order power bat as he continues to polish his game.

Caleb Johnson C / RHP / Vilonia, AR / 2025

A physical athlete listed at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds Johnson flashed some big power throughout his round batting practice reaching a peak exit velocity of 95.2 mph, sending his best barrel an event leading 359 feet. Johnson showed a balanced approach at the plate, working from gap-to-gap with the aptitude to elevate the ball pullside when needed. His barrel worked long and flat through the zone allowing for some adjustability.

Miguel Homsher 2B / SS / Cabot, AR / 2027

A lean athlete with plenty of room to add strength and size, Homsher flashed upside on both sides of the ball in Sunday’s look. The sophomore showed athletic and reliable actions on the infield, but it was at the plate where he really caught our eye. With a simple, repeatable approach, Homsher found barrel after barrel back though the middle of the field, averaging an impressive 87.5 mph per batted ball and a 56.2% line drive percentage. As Homsher continues to add on size and strength and prove that he can produce at the highest levels, look for the righty to emerge as a name to keep an eye on in the Natural State.

+ C/INF Christopher Fowler (Cabot, 2026) and C/OF Logan Polczynski (Lakeside, 2028) are two other players who flashed a knack for the barrel in strong rounds of BP in their Prep Baseball debuts on Sunday.
