AZ Preseason ID: Ball Flight

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

The Arizona High School baseball season officially began its tryouts on Monday with games quickly following. Many teams & prospects from around the state are gearing up for their seasons. PBR Arizona recently had a chance to wrap up its preseason schedule with its Arizona Preseason ID. This open event continues to be a huge identifier of new prospects in Arizona and to get quality prospect updates on players we have seen in the past. PBR Arizona staff uses this information when there live game coverage begins.

PBR Arizona held its Arizona Preseason ID on Saturday, February 13th at Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, AZ. This event featured 50+ prospects from the 2021-2025 grad classes from all across the state of Arizona with a few players trickling in from border states. This event has become a popular event as players go into their high school seasons.

Since the beginning of the summer, Prep Baseball Report events across the country have been powered by TrackMan’s industry-leading Portable system to capture pinpoint accurate, actionable data from player performances. At our preseason finale, all hitters had a chance to be evaluated through our portable Trackman unit. Each player received a round of on the field BP where they were measured in key ball flight metrics. We were able to collect valuable ball flight statistics such as exit velocity, distance, launch angles, spray charts and much more. PBR was able to collect data on many young uncommitted players from around the state that will be sharable with coaches & scouts as well as help players identify areas of development.

Today, we will be taking a look at two key ball flight metrics in Peak Exit Speed & Max Distance. To view the full event stats click here.
