AZ FALL UNDERCLASS: BAUER UNITS

With new partnerships with industry leaders such as Trackman & Driveline Baseball, Prep Baseball Report has unlocked and gathered new information & data that is presentable to college coaches. This data is also viewable to our prospects in order to help aid them in their individual development process. With some understanding of the metrics, players can use the information they receive from PBR showcases to help themselves progress more rapidly throughout a given year.

One of the most interesting metrics that has been made available to players is Bauer Units. At Driveline, Bauer Units are intended to control for Velocity when looking at a prospects Spin Rate. When looking at younger players, Bauer Units can give prospects some more understanding as to what their spin rates really mean. The numbers can give players & coaches information on how a pitchers FB currently stands and how that pitch can be used most effectively in live performance. Overall, Bauer Units are a good metric to show a pitcher's ability to apply spin to a pitch. When combining with pitch movement metrics such IVH & HB it should help give valuable information on a pitches overall effectiveness.

The average MLB fastball is 92mph at 2200rpm with 23.9 BU.

Here is our breakdown of Bauer Units from our AZ Fall Underclass Showcase:
