Baseball season is finally here. As of Friday, March 12th, the AIA high school baseball season is officially off and running. Throughout the spring, PBR will be posting Daily Roundup with some scores and select performances from past games.

Red Mountain region champs

Red Mountain took on Mesa at Hohokam Stadium on Thursday where they clinched their region championship. 2022 LHP Brandon Koble (Arizona State commit) started on the mound, throwing 6 innings for the Mountain Lions. He allowed one earned run on 5 hits and a walk, striking out 7 batters in the game for the victory. Senior, Ryan Campos (Arizona commit) had 3 hits in the game with two RBIs. 2022 OF/1B Mitch Namie (Fullerton commit) also had two hits and walk. Senior, Ashtin Webb (Central AZ commit) hit two big doubles for Mesa to try to get the offense going. Red Mountain wins 7-2. 

Sunrise Mountain turns on the offense in 5A battle

Sunrise Mountain had 16 total hits in their win versus Casteel on Thursday. They had six players with multi-hit games. Senior, Adam Moser was 3 for 4 in the game with a double & HR with 2 runs & 3 RBIs. Talt, Oxford, Tincher, Ramirez & Moreno all logged multiple hits for the Mustangs. Senior, Alex Ramirez also started on the mound where he struck out 7 batters in 4 innings while surrendering 5 hits and a walk. 

Other Performances:

2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Mountain View)- Yavapai commit, started on the mound for the Mountain View Toros. Thomas threw 5 scoreless innings where he struck out 10 batters while only allowing 1 hit & 1 walk. He had a no hitter going for most of the contest. He also hit a big triple in the game with 5 total RBIS. 

2022 SS Dante Turgeon (Benjamin Franklin)- Hit a walkoff home run on Thursday night vs Tanque Verde. The score was tied in the bottom of the 7th. Turgeon was 3 for 4 in the game with two doubles and the walkoff HR while scoring a run with 3 RBIS. 

2021 RHP Dante Schindler (Canyon Del Oro)- Pima commit, took the mound as he did a couple back versus the strong Salpointe Catholic. Threw a complete game shutout, striking out 3 batters while only surrendering 3 hits with no walks. 2021 C Andrew Stucky (Pima commit) also had two doubles in the game in his 2 for 3 day at the plate with 2 runs & 2 RBIs.
