HIGHLAND WINNING STREAK

The Highland Hawks are on a nice little 4-game winning streak with wins against two ranked opponents in that stretch. They beat Shadow Ridge significantly and just got a win versus Queen Creek yesterday. They will have to keep the momentum going as they have a tough stretch of games coming up. Last night, 2022 LF Jack Ellsworth had 3 hits in the game with a run and an RBI. 2023 CF Jacob Gonzalez had an RBI double with 3 runs scored in the game. 2023 LHP Bradyn Barnes (Arizona State commit) started on the mound for the Hawks and went 5 innings. He allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 batters. Another sophomore, RHP Cole Reece came in to throw the last two innings where he allowed

NOGALES TOO MUCH FOR WALDEN GROVE

Nogales had 12 total hits in this game with 4 players with multi-hits in Cristantes, Espinoza, Teel & Araujo. 2022 SS Demetrio Cristantes (New Mexico State commit) who is having a great start to the 2021 season after bouncing back from TJ led the offense in this one as he typical does. Hitting leadoff, Cristantes had 3 hits in the game including a double, two runs and an RBI. 2021 3B Brayan Espinoza (Glendale commit) also a big offensive contributor had two hits including a triple with 2 runs and 2 RBIS. 2022 Saul Soto (New Mexico State Commit) started on the mound for the apaches, striking out 8 batters in 5.2 innings. Another NMST commit on Walden Grove's side, 2022 LHP Milo Rushford started on the mound. He struck out 12 batters in 5 innings while only allowing 2 walks but Apaches offense was just too much to handle even with the left-hander on the mound.
