Extra inning homer for mountain view mesa

Mountain View's 2022 OF Andrew Villalobos hit a solo shot in the top of 8th inning while the game was tied to give the Toro's the win vs Westwood by a score of 4-3 in extras. It was a back and forth game with strong starting pitching on both sides. 2022 LHP Brandon Sanchez (Westwood) started on the mound, giving the Warriors 6 innings of work. Sanchez allowed 3 ER by 3 hits & 3 walks while striking out 8 batters. 2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Yavapai recruit) started on the mound for the Toros, giving them 5 innings in his season debut. He also struckout 8 batters on the day, allowing 3 ER on 4 walks & 2 hits. 2022 1B Evan Butler Vander-Valk (Westwood) had a big double in the 5th inning to tie the game at 3. Toros held the Warriors in the bottom of the 7th to earn the victory.

Corona Del sol takes win vs desert ridge in offensive affair

There was plenty of offense on both sides in this 11-10 game where Corona Del Sol was able to come away with the victory. 2021 C Zach Kress (South Mountain recruit) was on base 4 times for the Aztecs, going 2 for 3 with two walks. 2022 SS Jaydan Israel (Hawaii commit) had 3 hits on the day from the leadoff spot for the Jaguars. He hit a double while driving in 2 runs and scoring a run of his own. 2023 C Gio Melchione (Gonzaga commit) also hit a double for Desert Ridge, driving in 3 runs. 2022 RHP Austin Balmes started on the mound for Corona Del Sol, striking out 7 batters in 5 innings while not allowing a single walk.

MOUNTAIN Pointe powers there way past highland

The Mountain Pointe Pride put their power on display in a 10-2 win vs Highland on Friday. They hit 3 home runs in the game coming from seniors SS Tyler Kearney (Scottsdale recruit), C Cade Westerlund (Yavapai recruit) & 2B Jacob Beltran (South Mountain recruit). 2021 RHP Luke Brocco (Mesa recruit) started on the mound for the Pride, throwing 4 innings of shutout baseball. Will be interesting to see all of them playing against each other in the coming years.

Balanced Salpointe Catholic Team

The Salpointe Catholic Lancers look to have one of the more balanced squads in 2021 with a good combination of pitching, offense and defense. 2021 2B Luis Garcia (South Mountain recruit) had 4 hits in the Lancers 8-3 win vs Marana. Garcia scored 3 runs in the contest while driving in two. Seniors, 3B/RHP Cade McGee (Gonzaga recruit) & 1B Jack Rogers (New Mexico State recruit) provided most of the power. McGee had two doubles in the game, driving in two runs. He also closed out the game on the mound, throwing two clean innings & striking out 3 batters. Rogers had two hits in the game, one being a HR, he drove in 3 runs on the day. Their starter on the mound in the game was high upside right-hander, Liam O'Brien (Pima recruit). He threw 5 strong innings for the Lancers allowing 2ER on 4 hits and a walk, struck out 7 batters in the game. They have plenty of other guys that should contribute as well.
