Rankings Update: Class of 2025

Shea Sbranti
Arizona Scouting Director

With the summer coming to a close the Prep Baseball Report Arizona 2025 Class Rankings have been fully updated. The 2025’s continue to add depth to an already talented class with some players who have seen major development along with some new players making the list. Check out the top ranked players and fully expanded rankings, below.

All players on this Top-50 list are well deserving and have a bright future ahead. The players at the top of the list have separated themselves from the rest, and proven they belong where they will be heading. Most of these prospects are very tough to compare, and through the entire Top-50, the players are merely interchangeable, including some of those that have been left out.

Cameron Caminiti OF / LHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2025

Coming in at #1 in the State of Arizona, LSU commit Cam Caminiti has put himself in another category in regards to the 2025 class. The top two-way prospect in the class nationally, has had an eye opening summer playing for the 18u Chicago Cream, where he batted leadoff and was the #1 pitcher on his staff. Going up against some of the top rated teams in the country, Caminiti has a strong build with a high three quarter slot and loose arm that has been up to 94 mph with the FB, along with a wipe out SL that ranges from 80-81. At the plate, Caminiti has a strong base and a flat path that allows him to produce full field type power. As a staff we are excited to keep following Caminiti in the years to come as he keeps making strides towards his collegiate and professional career.

Brett Crossland RHP / RHP / Mountain Pointe, AZ / 2025

Remaining at the #2 rank in Arizona, Brett Crossland’s power right handed arm has been a special prospect to watch in just his first high school season. He, along with Caminiti at the #1 spot, have shown to be generational talents here in the Grand Canyon State. Crossland stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 230 pounds. This is a very uncomfortable at bat as a hitter with Crossland looking down on hitters from the mound. He features a power FB that was clocked up to 96 mph in his freshman season, along with an out pitch in the upper 70’s SL, and a CH at 82-83 mph that drops off the table. It’s scary to say that Crossland still has more velo to tap into. The arm action is very easy from a HTQ slot, and the build and strength show that there is more to tap into. As Crossland continues to get more innings, gain consistency, and learn to command the MLB level repertoire, he’s an early projection as a high draft pick. The uncommitted 2025 has yet to decide what school he will continue his playing career at.

Caleb Danzeisen OF / C / Valley Christian, AZ / 2025

Remaining in the #3 spot in the state of Arizona, 6-foot-1 185 pound Caleb Danzeisen, has a pro build with room for added strength and athleticism as he gets ready for the next level. The C/OF has shown an above average arm for his age at previous events, with a clean and short arm action that plays well behind the plate and in the outfield. Danzeisen shows good bat to ball skills with above average plate discipline. Uses middle of the field approach with elite gap-to-gap power for his age. Danzeisen remains at the #3 player in the 2025 class and the #1 uncommitted position player in the state of Arizona. Danzeisen will be a high follow for the Arizona staff as he goes into his Fall season with travel team USA Prime National and spring high school season at Valley Christian.

Jack Lafflam RHP / 1B / Brophy College Prep, AZ / 2025

The 6-foot-5 165 pound RHP, Jack Lafflam is no stranger to the top 10 players in the state of Arizona. Making the move to #6 in the rankings, Lafflam proved what he can do at this year's Future Games at Lake Point. The lengthy righty has a high ¾ slot and whippy arm. Lafflam is a 3-pitch mix strike thrower with a FB that has been up to 88 mph with impressive spin, ranging from (2100-2300). While Lafflam has shown to have an overpowering FB for his age, his SL is what puts him apart from the rest. Ranging from 74-77 mph and a spin of (2300-2500). Lafflam’s sweeping slider has shown to be a quality out pitch. The uncommitted 2025 will be a high profiled prospect going into his sophomore fall season, and spring season at Brophy.

Zane Burns RHP / OF / Chandler, AZ / 2025

Making his first appearance to the top 10 coming in at #7 is RHP/OF Zane Burns. Burns had a blow out season this past spring at Chandler high school and summer season playing for the Scottsdale Dirtbags and the USA 15U National. The 6-foot-1 170 pound RHP has a high three-quarter slot, with a quick and repeatable arm action. Burns FB has been anywhere from 86-88 with arm side run. At the plate, Burns has a simple and compact swing with a middle of the field approach. With added size and strength we feel burns will be a high level gap-to-gap type hitter. We are excited to watch Burns as he goes into his fall season with the Scottsdale Dirtbags and high school spring season at Chandler.

Risers and new additions

Gavin Mesa OF / 3B / Chaparral , AZ / 2025

The 6-foot-4 190 pound, OF out of Chaparral high school has made a big jump in this round of post summer rankings. Moving from #39 in the state to #19. Mesa has a tall athletic frame with some potential as a runner posting a 7.25 60 at his previous event. In the outfield, Mesa has shown good athleticism as he gets to the ball quickly with a quick glove to release time, and an OF velo of 86 mph. At the plate Mesa shows pre-pitch bat movement and a toe-tap load. He stays connected to his backside well with quick hands and a bat speed of 76 mph. Mesa’s bat path works flat through the zone with a high finish creating lift on contact that produces a heavy line drive to fly ball ratio. Mesa is a high follow for the Arizona staff as he goes into his fall season with Canes Arizona and Spring season at Chaparral high school.

Ryan Caruso RHP / RHP / Desert Vista, AZ / 2025

A new addition to the top 50 in the state of Arizona, coming in at #31, is RHP Ryan Caruso out of Desert Vista high school. The 6-foot 160 righty has a lengthy and projectable build with major upside to come down the road. With a FB topping out at 84 mph with a spin rate ranging from (2200-2350) and an average vertical break of 17.6 via Trackman. Caruso comes at hitters with a high three-quarter slot and loose quick arm. In the Underclass Top Prospect games held at  Arizona State University, Caruso faced 10 batters allowing 0 hits and striking out 4. As a staff we are looking forward to following Caruso as he goes into his fall season with Wilson Sandlot and Spring season at Desert Vista high school.

Grant Smith C / 3B / Basha , AZ / 2025

Another addition to the top 50 in the state of Arizona coming in at #32 is catcher Grant Smith out of Basha high school. Smith participated in the Under Class Top Prospect Games this summer and was one of the stand out performers across the board. The 5-foot-7 catcher showed a quick exchange behind the plate with an accurate arm to go along with it. At the plate Smith has a slightly open stance, short stride and hands just outside his shoulder. Smith showed a slight uphill swing that produced a line drive and fly ball profile. With added size and strength we see Smith becoming a gap-to-gap type hitter with quality bat to ball skills. We are excited to follow Smith as he goes into his fall season with team Zinger and spring season at Basha high school.

Lucas Shannon 3B / RHP / Salpointe Catholic , AZ / 2025

Coming in at #16 in the updated 2025 class rankings is 6-foot-2 195 pound C/RHP Lucas Shannon. Shannon most recently attended the Tucson Open this past weekend at the University of Arizona where the 2025 two-way prospect showed a HTQ slot and loose arm on the mound with a FB topping out at 86 mph. Shannon’s arm slot creates a good amount of sink with a HM of 16.7. If Shannon is able to attack the bottom of the zone moving forward we feel he will be able to amplify his success. At the plate, Shannon had a balanced and simple stance with his hands working back at shoulder height. Shannon’s strong build showed with a 95 mph EV that produced line drives to all fields. Shannons best contact was middle to middle away. Shannon will be a high follow for the Arizona staff as he goes into his fall season with Trosky National and spring season at Salpointe.
